POV: Caleb
A week later after the talent show, I get a phone call. From the guy that owns a little coffee shop down the street. I forget what it's called, but I know where it is. Weird how I can go there a lot and not even know what the name of it is. The guys' name is Nick. He says his son was in the talent show, so he saw us play. He was mentioning that on Saturday nights from now on he was going to have an open spot for a band since his last one quit on him. He was wondering if we'd like to fill in the spot. Let's say I was speechless. "I think I might have to talk to the guys first," I finally find the words to say.
"Sure thing. How about all of you guys come down this weekend and give it a try. Feel out what this small little shop has to offer. Just try it out, and if you don't think you want to perform anymore, than I will just haveta find another way to fill in that spot," Nick tells me. I cringe at his English, but I don't want to ruin this opportunity. I keep quiet this one time. If it was Chad.... That would have been another story.
"Thank you mr.... Mr...." I question politely.
"Hahaha you can just call me Nick," he replies.
"Ok then Mr. Nick what time should we be there?"
"Can you be here around 3 in the afternoon?"
"Yeah just let me talk to the guys and we will get back to you," I say (trying to act professional.)
"Sure thing not a problem at all. Hope to see you this weekend. Bye"
"Thank you! Bye"
I send a text to Alan, Chad, Gabe, and Joey.
"Hey guys! You know that little coffee shop near the end of my street? Well the owner there wants us to perform there on Saturdays! How exciting is that? We could become a regular thing!"
I get a response back from Alan, Gabe, and then Chad-man, so Joey must be napping.
Gabe- "Really? I guess we sounded better than I thought!"
Alan- "Come on Gabe you know God gave us the talent. God had a plan for us being on that stage, and now we can see why. This is amazing Caleb! I'm in."
Chad- "Does this mean we have to wake up early on a Saturday?!?!?"
Me- "We have to be there at 3 in the afternoon, so you just have to be ready by then."
Chad- "Awww man! That's when I'm doing stuff."
Me- "Oh yeah? Like what?"
Chad- "That's when I take a nap."
Me- "And I thought Joey was the one who takes naps all the time."
Joey- "What about Joey?"
Chad- "Oooh so NOW he decides to show up! What happened the bee attack your phone again?"
Joey- "Come on Chaddy let me BEE!"
Chad- "I know where you live!!"
Me- "Boys, Boys don't make me go get Alan!"
Alan- "Don't worry Caleb. I'm always here and I'm not going anywhere."
Joey and Chad either made their own conversations off of the group text messages or they stopped because they both sent at the same time the same message.
"GULP!" (Insert nervous emoji here)
Me- "You better watch out. You better not cry, you better not pout, and I'm telling you why. Alan man is coming to TOWWWN!!"
Chad- "Seriously?!?!? It's not even Christmas!!!!!!!"
Joey- "Oh come on Bubby! Don't be so rude."
Alan- "I'm still here."
That quieted both of them.
