I said “I do”… then fell in Love
Chapter 1
Katy’s POV
The noise in the bathroom woke up me while it was still dark that morning. “Jordan?” I called to my husband. “What are you doing? What time is it?”
The bathroom door swung open. “Good morning, beautiful!” Jordan said cheerfully, his typical morning self.
“It’s not morning,” I complained. “It’s the middle of the night! I pulled the blankets and sheets up over my face. “What time is it?”
“It’s already five,” he said. I heard his footsteps coming towards the bed. The blankets came down from my face. “Don’t you want to get up with me?” He kissed my forehead.
“Go away,” I mumbled with a smile. Jordan did this some mornings. If I woke up while he was getting ready to leave for work, he would try to talk me into getting up with him—I think for the purpose of eating a hot breakfast that he didn’t have to make himself. Or sometimes it was just for a kiss before he left for the day.
He kissed the tip of my nose. “Oh come on. Be a good wife and come make your dear, dashingly handsome, amazing, wonderful husband some breakfast!”
I grabbed a pillow from beside me and whacked him with it. “Wrong choice, baby,” he said, his green eyes lighting up with too much mischievousness for five o’clock in the morning. He easily scooped me into his arms and set me down on the floor. He slipped his arms around my waist and I locked mine around his neck.
“Jordan!” I said. “You are such a crazy man.”
“Crazy for you!” He gave me a corny line. “And since I’m so crazy for you, I’ll let you go back to bed. Well, after you kiss me of course.”
I stood up on tiptoe and kissed him quickly and spun around to go back to sleep. “Katy,” he whined.
“Fine,” I said, knowing that’s what his reaction was going to be. I gave him a proper kiss then smiled up at him. “Can I go back to bed now?”
He let me go. “Alright,” he said. He smiled at me. “I love you, baby.”
“Love you too,” I said. I crawled back into bed and fell asleep with a smile on my face.

“Mama!” my little boy’s exuberant squeal woke me back up immediately. Thankfully, though, this was a happy squeal, not the kind that predicted a coming tantrum.
Two-and a half-year old Trey’s little feet pattered across my and Jordan’s bedroom floor. “Good morning, little man!” I said with a smile, scooping him up onto my bed. Jordan had left for work a few hours earlier, so it was just me and Trey hanging out for the day.
“Mama!” he said again, patting my cheek. “Wanna play!”
“Wanna play what?” I asked. “Wanna play tickle monster?” I tickled his chubby little belly and he erupted in a fit of giggles. “Or wanna watch Elmo?”
“Ehhh-mo!” he said excitedly.
I grabbed the remote for the TV and turned it to his favorite kids’ channel. Trey settled into the pillows, immediately zoned in on his favorite little red monster. My cell phone beeped beside me with a new text. It was from Jamie Hall, my sister-in-law.
“Morning,” it read, “you busy today? Wanted to go to lunch with you and Trey between classes.”
“Sure,” I texted back. “Eleven?”
