Morning arrives like every other day for anyone else. For Kim Myungsoo, it is not just any other day.

It is his first day at Woollim High School, or more precisely, his first day as a transfer student.

That very fact seems to take its time to sink in. It was a tough decision and it was a decision that he made on his own. He does not have any important reason such as parents changing job locations or him being an elite and successfully won a spot in the most prestigious school in Seoul.

Actually, anyone in Seoul would not have heard about Woollim High. It is just a small neighbourhood school, surrounded by houses and an out-of-bounds forest. One would not boast for being a Woollim High School student.

So why would Kim Myungsoo transfer himself to this school?

The boy lying on his bed releases a sigh as he stares at the ceiling which brightens due to the sunlight of the morning sky. He sits up and grips the end of his blanket, before taking a deep inhale and releasing it.

"I couldn't sleep at all," Myungsoo confesses to himself. "Not even a minute. What should I do?"

He ruffles his curly hair in frustration and jumps out of bed to get ready to school. Donning a navy blue blazer over his white top, Myungsoo adjusts his red and gold tie and sweeps off dust on his khaki coloured pants. While he checks his face for pimples and whiteheads, he combs his hair forward covering his forehead.

After about ten minutes of getting ready, he swings both his arms on his sides and gives himself an once-over on the mirror. His eyes look intently on the school badge on his blazer.

"Woollim High School," Myungsoo bites the lower lip and his fingers clenched into fists. "What kind of school will you be?"

His gaze instantly moves towards his study table where stands a photo frame of a girl with long wavy hair and a large smile. Right beside the photo is an envelope designed with watercolour flowers, sealed with a heart-shape sticker.

Myungsoo turns and bows alittle, with an expression that spells nothing else but sadness and guilt.

"Noona, I will be going to your school from today onwards," Myungsoo straightens and stares at the letter. "I will keep my promise. Jinja."

Myungsoo grabs his bag and leaves his bedroom. He walks past the kitchen realising the tabletop empty. He knows well his mother will not prepare him breakfast or send him off to school. With a last glance at the kitchen, Myungsoo moves to the shoe rack and wears his shoes. He turns around and looks at his mother's bedroom door.

"I'm leaving for school, Eomma. Don't forget to eat your breakfast-"

The bedroom door swings open and his mother in her pajamas stands with crossed arms. The dark look on her face makes Myungsoo bat his eyes repeatedly.

The woman blinks away angrily, "I hope you don't enjoy school today."

"Eomma," Myungsoo knits his brows in disagreement.

"And you will come back home begging me to put you back to where you belong!" His mother reprimands with a finger jabbing at his direction. "Myung-ie, you are going to regret so badly that you will never ever defy me again!"

Myungsoo hangs his head low, clutching his grip on his bag tightly.

"You were doing so well in your former school. I mean, you're a top student in your class! You were going to be the captain of the swimming club too! Omo, you left all that behind and transferred to some poor old school just for that girl! Aigoo, all the hardwork and pain I went through to put you in St. James! Aigoo Jinja, you are hurting me too, Kim Myungsoo!"

Myungsoo bows alittle and turns away without looking at his mother. "I'm off to school, Eomma."

Within a heartbeat, Myungsoo exits his house and dashes down the corridor and the stairs. He pants heavily, finding himself foolish to have ran away from his own mother. He knows better that if he stays any longer, his mother will not stop lecturing him and he will be late for his first day of school.

Myungsoo cannot deny anything his mother said. His decision was seemed careless, ignorant and stupid. No one would be in the right mind to think that whatever he is doing right now can be rationalised into something good.

Imagine you are leaving a well-known school of high status and all the achievements and recognition you gained from your teachers and peers go wasted. Now you are heading off to an almost non-existent school that you will never get recognised no matter how hard you will work there.

Any parent would have fought and sacrificed for what is best for their children. His mother's sentiments are reasonable and hence she has the right to reprimand him. His betrayal to his mother is as clear as day, and he could not be bothered arguing with her anymore.

If there is anything that he can be proud of, it is his strong will to act on what he has decided. The courage to go against the odds, especially his own mother is admirable and probably the only thing he needs right now.

Myungsoo knows he has made a rash decision and he is the only one who knows the true reason why he did so. And as much as his mother gets angry at him, deep inside she knows Myungsoo would not have come up with this without putting his heart and soul into it. Just like how he strived to be the best son to her, he is also working hard to achieve something that is not because of his own greed and selfishness.

In matter of fact, she knows the truth but she just keeps on denying.

Myungsoo halts outside the building of his apartment and looks up at the window where his mother will always stand to watch him go to school. He can only see the curtain being drawn but the shadow casted on it proves that his mother still worries for him.

Like any teenager who is innately attached to his sole caregiver, Myungsoo waves at the window and walks ahead with his head held high. The mother pulls the curtain alittle and sneers in irritation, because she cannot hold back her affection to him.

"Be careful, ah deul. Love you."

A/N: Thank you for reading this fanfic. I'm a new Inspirit since a couple months ago and I cannot resist my itchy hands to write about Kim Myungsoo.

I discovered about him when I watched Cunning Single Lady because of Seo Kang Jun (and I love his eyes btw). I found Myungsoo's dimples so adorable and went on a massive exploration from his debut until now. In short, I am in love with this guy so much. He deserves so much love and so does his group INFINITE. Thus, this is a piece of what I can do to support his name and his group.

PLEASE SUPPORT KIM MYUNGSOO AND INFINITE. 💕💕💕💕💕
