When I woke up, sunlight intruded my eyes, daring to blind me. I let out a groan and flipped over so my head was in the pillow. Then, I realized I had slept in.
I quickly jumped out of bed, and checked the time on my phone. It read 10:34. I guess today would be the first day that I was late to my job.
I tied my hair up as I quickly dragged myself to the bathrooom. I splashed water on my face over the sink, and started brushing my teeth. I headed towards my nightstand, toothbrush still in mouth, and picked up my phone. I dialed Calum's number - I decided I should tell my boss that I would be late. When he picked up on the first ring, a load of sorry's escaped my mouth.
"Whoa, whoa, Bradshaw. Why are you sorry?" He seemed utterly confused. I guess Calum was not a very smart cookie.
"I'm gonna be late to work. Duh... It's already, like, 11:00," I said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Then, there was just laughing on the other end.
"Este! It is only 10:40!" He laughed some more. "Oh, and also, it's Saturday. You don't work today." With that, he hung up. I could just imagine him laughing his ass off for another hour. So I guess I'm the one who's not a very smart cookie.
I finished brushing my teeth as I walked to the bathroom again. Great way to make an impression on your boss, I thought.

I called Dani and we made plans to meet at Sweet Rose, our favorite place to get ice cream. Within half an hour, I was all ready to go. I hopped into my car and started driving, but not before slipping in an Arctic Monkeys CD. My favorite. I sung along (very badly, if I must say) to every song that had time to play. I parked outside of Sweet Rose and hopped out of the car. The line wasn't too long, but there were a lot of people sitting on the tables outside. I guess Dani and I would have to find somewhere else to sit. I didn't mind, though, I liked a little adventure.
I waited in line for about ten minutes before Dani showed up. She was almost always a little late, but I didn't mind. She always found time in her busy schedule to see me, and that's all that mattered to me. She was dressed in an adorable black skirt with a tight crop top over it, and then a long, flowy, see-through cardigan.
Dani was always a little shorter than me, but what she didn't have in height she made up for in looks.
Dani was beautiful. She had wavy, dark brunette hair that fell just past her shoulders. Her hair was thick, but still felt like silk. She had green eyes like me, but hers stood out more because of her pale complexion and dark hair. She always lined her eyes with eyeliner, which just made them pop even more. I'd say that was her best feature, but I could never stop there.
After we had ordered our ice cream - salted caramel for me, mint for her - we walked around looking for a place to sit and eat. After a while, though, we just decided to go in the shops and look for cute clothes.
One of the stores we went into carried the prettiest little dresses. We each picked up more dresses than we could carry, and tried all of them on. Dani looked amazing in all of them, of course, but there were surprisingly a couple that Dani claimed I looked stunning in.
One of them was a navy blue dress that hugged my curves. It was hard to put on, but once I did, I smiled at my reflection.
On the count of three, both me and Dani jumped out of our own dressing rooms.
Dani was in a plain, strapless red dress, and it looked so good on her. I was about to compliment her on it, when she talked instead.
"Oh my god Este! That dress is just drop dead gorgeous!" She took a couple steps towards me, and I shimmied my chest while giggling.
