Caitlin's POV

Hmm.. Miss Grant said with squinted but interested eyes. Caitlin, this is the best poem book I have read so far today. She said with an amused smile

I couldn't believe what I just heard.

Thank you Miss Grant, that means a lot coming from you. I replied as I let out a gentle sigh in my seat. She loved my book!

I was currently inside Miss Grant's office. Yes, THE Miss Grant. She is the most respected professor in Lesbridge University when it comes to the English and Literature subject.

If you didn't know yet, I joined and entered an application for a scholarship grant in Oklahoma Oakridge Univeristy. My dad studied there and he graduated with flying colors. It has been my dream to follow on his footsteps and be an inspiring author like him.

Every application is different. We were required to make a poem book out of any themes. The goal is to make any original poems of your own. It must be a pure and original, poems that no one has ever heard yet. Every student must make a book if ever they are applying for the said scholarship. Every book has to go through Miss Grant in every step of the application. She rechecks and reads all the poems, hence why I'm in her office right now.

Now, getting rejected from this application will totally ruin the life of me. I've prepared for this application my entire summer and I didn't want to disappoint Ms. Grant and the other professors because that would be such a bummer. But hearing Ms. Grant say that she somehow loved my work has given me hope that maybe I did such a good job with my book after all.

Ms. Grant finally sighed as she finished flipping through the pages of my poem book. She lets out a contented sigh and smiles at me.

Ms. Wilson, first off, your poems are authentic and amazing! Good job, you've done so well. Ms. Grant said with a soft smile as she wrote something down on a clipboard she had in her desk. Your poems are special, it almost feels fictious. I admire you for that.

Ms. Grant, thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means to me. I said with a very large smile. I still couldn't believe it!

However, Ms. Wilson... Ms. Grant said as she placed her pen down and folder her hands in the desk and looked at me. Your poems may be different, beautiful, and very well-thought of, but I'm worried that maybe this is all that you have to show for the world.

I thought about what she said. Before I could ask a question, she continued.

I feel like your poems are enclosed, it's like there is something in the way of your true potential and that you haven't opened up to the world yet. They are authentic, meaningful, and too perfect, I'm worried that maybe that is all there is to it. May I ask why you chose to keep your true intentions hidden? I know you're better than this Ms. Wilson.

I immediately understood what she meant. I looked down and pondered over the thought. It's true. My poems seemed a little too perfect, the themes were always too happy and too beautiful. There weren't poems that described my inner feelings, my pains, my struggles, and my sad experiences in my life.
