Hyunjin left the cat, a bit worried it would be scared to stay alone.
"So, I'm not sure if you know but... that's actually not a pure cat." The vet started.
"Um.... What do you mean?" Hyunjin looked at the vet like they had five heads.
The vet sighed, "Have you heard of hybrids?"
Hyunjin was taken back, "Yes. Aren't they a small group of people who were experimented on? And their kids kept the DNA and such?"
The lady nodded, "You see, there was a news article that went out about a fight in the area they held hybrids, leaving some to escape. Many were found and brought back. There still many hybrids out there and some humans are growing aware of the diversity. Some hybrids have collars with numbers on as they couldn't figure out how to get them off."
Hyunjin gasped, those were the numbers on Changbin's collar. "S-so that explains a lot."
He wondered why a cat would just randomly attack that guy who stole his wallet.
"I'm supposed to call authorities on him to get him back but... I'm going be honest with you. What they do in that camp is terrible."
"C-can I take him home? Please? I'll make sure he has a nice home. We won't judge him."
She smiled, "Then I'll just put down the cat's name was Chanwa. Come here for his check ups so we don't run into the authorities. I advise getting him a new collar, or none at all."
"Thank you." Hyunjin was relieved that Changbin could live with them.
"So, don't expect him to be warm with you. He'll probably be really scared. As I said, they get treated terribly at the camp. They grew up in a cursed society that forced them to be this way yet we dont accept them.
Just try to show him you mean no harm. The fact that he let's you carry him and pet him already shows that he trusts you. If you have questions, here's my card. You should get out of here before there's questions."
"Thank you again." Hyunjin went in the room, noticing Changbin in the box, brown eyes above the box looking at him.
"Ready to go home, little guy?"
Changbin meowed at him and Hyunjin took the box, leaving to take him home. He stopped at a dumpster, taking the collar off of Changbin and tossing it into the trash.
"There we go. No more of that." He smiled, carrying him to an apartment building.
"Welcome ho- oooh~ who's this cute little guy?" His friend, Felix, came over, smiling widely at Changbin who was looking up at the new human in fear, curled up against the box.
"Felix, help me keep the boys from overcrowding him. He needs time to adjust." Hyunjin told him.
Felix let out an okay and went to each room to tell them what was going on and came back.
"Changbin, this is Felix." Hyunjin stated, setting the box down. Felix sat on the ground, crossing his legs as he put his hand out.
With hesitation, Changbin walked out of the box, sniffing the floor and then stepped closer to Felix. It was slow, but Felix was patient and with time, Changbin was sniffing his fingers.
Felix moved his hand to pet him which made the black cat flinch back.
"Oh, I'm sorry." He said, staying still.
Changbin went forward again, sniffing the hand and soon rubbed his face against his hand.
"Alright, let's let him sniff around. You think you can watch over him as I get cat supplies?"
Felix nodded so Hyunjin left to go to the pet store.
Hyunjin got kitty litter, hard and soft food, treats, toys and a bed. With the five bags, he came back to see Felix and Chan sitting on the living room floor, watching Changbin sniff around.
"I'm back." The three looked over at him. He set the bags down, showing the cat and the Australians what he got.
Changbin came over, looking at the toys and started batting at the ball. It rolled and made a noise, making the cat flinch back.
"Careful as you play, Changbin. You dont wanna hurt yourself."
The cat meowed, batting the ball and following it out of curiosity.
"So, why Changbin?" Chan asked.
"Oh, he had a collar with a nametag on it." Hyunjin stated, holding back a laugh as Changbin batted the ball under the table and tried to reach it, but soon just sat down.
"Wait, where is the collar then?" Felix asked.
"I'll explain later when everyone is here. Chan, do you and Felix mind leaving so Jeongin, Jisung and Seungmin can meet him?"
"I'll tell Jisung but he's actually at the recording studio." Chan said, texting Jisung.
"I think Jeongin is doing homework so I'll get Seungmin." Felix left and Chan followed soon after.
Changbin came over to Hyunjin, looking at him with his gorgeous brown eyes.
"What's up? Want something to eat or drink?" Hyunjin asked. The cat meowed and he took it as a sign that he was hungry or thirsty.
He took the bowl out, opening the wet cat food. "My welcome home treat." He said.
Changbin smelled the wet food and looked up at Hyunjin with confusion.
"No, it's not poisonous." He chuckled as the black cat gobbled the food. "Easy, easy. It won't disappear."
Changbin sat down, taking it easy as Hyunjin sighed. The fact he saw the cat gobble the food up like he wanted to get it before Hyunjin changed his mind showed how harsh it was at the camp.
He was a bit worried that his roommates won't understand or want the hybrid because of the stories of rogue hybrids. He never blamed hybrids for their anger.
He'd be pretty pissed if he was in a confined area treated like dirt. He heard about the huge fight that resulted in many hybrids and humans losing their lives.
He just hopes he can show the hybrid that he can trust them and hopefully see his human transformation.
