Hey guys, just the explaination of the whole story.
First, some background. I breifly mentioned it in the last chapter, Zayn is dead. But not due to anything Niall did. It was a hostage situation, and as time rolled by the gunman grew agitated resulting in him being trigger happy. Zayn ended up being shot- protecting Niall- and died in Niall's arms. That caused both Niall to blame the himself and severe mental trauma, resulting in PTSD. As a defense mechanism, his brain made up an alternate reality in his head known as dissociation. So he believes he's a killer. His alternate reality has to do with his guilt. He believes that he killed Zayn, and that he's a monster or murder.He's also extremely angry- at himself, at Zayn, at the world, and his agressions show through this 'reality' he has created.
So now we all know that this whole 'reality' of Niall's was all in his head. He has mild PTSD, seeing your love die right in front of you can do that, and with it came his body's way of protecting itself. It created an alternate reality- one that was very similar with everyday life in certain aspects, and allowed Niall to greive without knowing it. His brain uses defense mechanisms, to try and preserve itself. He has dissociation, something commonly seen in PTSD patients. Where in place of s traumatic event, some other 'memory' is put. He lives a different life in his head, and often doesn't remember doing certain things and looses track of time. He's also acting out, taking out his aggression on the 'victims' in his head- brutally murdering them.
Niall is now in a mental institution, his friends (Louis, Harry, Liam) are worried about him. Symptoms of the dissociation making themselves known to the boys- constantly staring off into space, or talking about things that haven't happened (like the hunter). Liam happens to know about what Niall is going through, being s counselor at the same mental institution that Niall was admitted to.
