Let's dance beneath the stars and forget the world

~<•>~

I finally look down to see the fire going strong in the distance. I couldn't tell who was who, but I could see one chasing the other while a third filmed them using his phone.

I laughed, which brought Darryl out of his daze. "What's so funny?" He asked.

I pointed to the chaos below us, and he smiled fondly.

"You haven't spoken much since you got here." I pointed out after a moment of silence. "Why's that?"

He was silent for a long moment before looking back up at the stars.

"Because I don't want to mess anything up. I mean, this is the first time we're all here together in person." He brought his knees up to his chest. "What if none of you like me outside of the screen?"

I looked at him sorrowfully. He was usually really bright and bubbly, and it hurt seeing this bright and happy person being the complete opposite.

"Well," I said. "If it's any consolation, I like you so far. I mean, you seem to be the same person I talk to every day, so."

He smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes.

"But I get what you mean." I continued. "Sometimes you can be a totally different person to others, especially online."

Darryl finally looked at me for the first time tonight. "Sounds like we both know from experience."

I nodded, looking back up to the stars.

"You know," I heard Darryl shuffle beside me. "I heard that if you wish upon a shooting star, it'll come true."

"That sounds like complete and utter horseshit," I said, earning a dirty glare from Darryl.

"Anyways," He continued. "It doesn't work if you speak your wish, because your words can contradict your heart. And you don't even need to know what you wish for, but your heart does."

"Still sounds like a ton of bullshit," I said.

"Language." He snapped. "And it might be, but you never know."

Then, a flash of light flew across the sky.

A shooting star.

I closed my eyes and tried to focus on a deep desire of mine.

But I couldn't think of anything.

Suddenly, it got really cold.

I hugged myself, trying to preserve as much warmth as possible. Darryl seemed to notice.

"Are you cold?" He asked and I nodded.

He then took off his hoodie and handed it to me. "It might be a bit big, but it should still fit."

I hesitantly took it from his grasp and put it on. He was right, it was a bit big, but I didn't care. It was warm and comfortable and smelled like muffins.

How fitting.

Darryl laughed at me as I flailed my arms about, taking advantage of the hoodie paws I now possess.

"I think you made a huge mistake in letting me borrow this," I said, laughing.

"Oh? And why is that?" Darryl asked, scooting away from me to avoid getting hit.

"Because I never want to take this off."

Darryl pouted. "Aw, c'mon, that's my favorite hoodie!"

"Yeah, well, it's mine now." I laughed.

"Give it back!" He whined, trying to grab the hoodie.

"The only way you can get me to give this hoodie back is if you pry it off my cold dead body!" I said in a teasing sort of manner.

Darryl smirked, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Is that a challenge?"

I smirked back. "Perhaps."

Next thing I knew, my best friend was chasing me on top of the small flat roof. We ran around and around in a circle before Darryl remembered that we were going in a circle, and turned around. I ended up running right into his arms before I had a chance to process what he did.

"Dammit." I huffed, crossing my arms in a pout.

"Language!" He laughed, which was extremely contagious. I soon found myself laughing alongside him.

"If you two are done flirting with each other, we're gonna play Truth or Dare in a few minutes!" Vincent shouted from below, earning our attention. "Come join us if you wanna play!"

I look towards Darryl, who was still holding me, by the way. "You gonna play?"

Darryl shrugged. "Eh, why not?"

After another minute or two, he finally let go of me. "You can keep the hoodie for tonight. I'll be fine."

I frowned. "Are you sure? I can always ask any of the others if they have a hoodie."

Darryl smiled. "I'm positive. Besides, it looks cute on you."

I gaped at him, blushing as he went down the ladder.

"D-did you just....flirt with me?" I asked, going down the ladder after him.

He giggled, booping my nose once I got to the ground. "Perhaps."

And with that, he ran off towards the rest of the group, leaving me in the dark by the shed in his hoodie.

I originally was gonna do something to put them in a very sexual position, but I decided against it. I still love it tho.
