So before this gets confusing. The night the death eaters entered Hogwarts to kill Dumbledore, old voldy came with them an Harry defeated him with no horcruxces or anything. I'm only doing that so that the story can make more sense. So yeah the war was just a year earlier bc there were no horcruxces except for the ring and the diary and the locket, which Regulus did destroy.
