CHAPTER 3: ARRIVAL OF A CHILDHOOD FRIEND

I remained my eyes close, waiting for the sun to come up. The moment his lips laid on my forehead and the loosened of his arms and legs, it was now the moment of leaving.

"I love you, Vanessa," he whispered so slow, perhaps afraid that it might wake me. And I might halt him again.

But this time, I had no plans to.

"Sweet dreams, lovely. Take care of yourself while I'm away." He kept on showering kisses on my hair.

Peace.

"I'll see you later. Turn down guys who will try to flirt. We'll have a long talk later, baby. Sleep tight."

As soon as the sunlight illuminated my room, my eyelids flickered open.

I tapped the side of the bed and got disappointed when I found it empty. I sighed.

When we'll be together when it's daylight?

In spite of that, I grabbed his pillow, hugged it tight on my arms and smelled his normal scent left on it.

"Vanessa!"

I jerked with mom's call full of urgency. It was followed by clamorous knocks on the locked door.

"Babangon na!" I shouted back.

I didn't get enough sleep, really. I only got 2 hours of sleep and the rest was taken by my reverie.

"Get dress, sweetie!"

Napaismid ako.

Wala namang pasok kasi wala na akong school.

"What for?" walang buhay kong tanong.

"We have a visitor downstairs. Naku, matutuwa ka kapag nakita mo siya." I could imagine mom grinning from ear to ear.

Who the fuck it will be?

Justin Bieber? Selene Gomez? Ariana Grande? Who?

I didn't want to ruin mom's enthusiasm because it's been years since I'd heard that kind of tone from her. Seeking for my bunny slippers on the floor, I got up and went to the shower.

After my 2 hours shower, I dressed myself with a loose white tee and black jeans. Scrutinizing myself on the mirror, my shoulders fell.

I look like walang buhay.

I was pale, damned pale. My lips were dry, both of cheeks were dull. The dark circles beneath my gloomy eyes were noticable. I was a brunette, but my hair was losing its sleek and smoothness.

Damn it, I lack of water.

"I'm supposed to bloom for being seventeen..." I murmured, head tilting. "Pero nakakatangina naman itong itsura ko."

At the end, I just shrugged it off and wore my sneakers. I was used to it anyway. I was never been conscious with my looks though my ex-friend often teases me about me. That I should do this, do that, do those and so on.

Oh, damn it. Natasha and her mess!

"Vanessa!"

Bumuga ako ng hininga. I raked my fingers through my hair and let it fall over my shoulders.

Ang importante ay buhay.

Grabbing my phone on the table, I shoved it on the pocket of my jeans and went downstairs for breakfast. I had this deal with Natasha that we'd be meeting each other at the Polka's Caff. Her married sister was the owner of it, just nearby my ex-school.
