picture me as i once was
a child playing fairytales in their backyard
picture me in the tall grass of my yard
picking wildflowers for my mom and placing them in your hair
before i knew the complexities of gender and could scream at the top of my lungs so the neighbors would know it was finally summer and we were invincible
picture me in a dress my mom made me wear twirling in her garden of lilies
picture me when life was simple and i could go for walks outside and come home with rocks in my pockets that we thought were special
when i thought fairies granted wishes when you blew dandelions
picture me how i was was: a ruler of wildflowers
just picture me
