*Idol AU*

(Idol!Hoseok x Idol!Male Reader)

(Angst) (Warning: Attempted suicide and homophobic slurs. If it triggers you, I suggest you skip.)

*A bit long*

M/N stares down into the water below him, his [animal] sock-clad feet shuffling on the bottom bar of Han River's guard rail as he holds onto the first in a vice-like grip behind his back. The water moves slowly and calmly, almost inviting the male into its cool embrace, but he doesn't buy into it yet.

His shoes and coat lie carelessly on the other side of the rail on the concrete, a sealed envelope trapped beneath one of his shoes and the inside of his coat; he had left his phone at home. No one was going to text or call him anyway, so he didn't see the point in taking it with him. He also didn't want to have to listen to the constant buzzing of someone dm'ing him that he's worthless and how fat he's getting and how he much he should off himself.

The young idol had been receiving an immense amount of hate for no particular reason other than the fact that he had come out as [sexuality] and announced his six-month relationship with the hopeful member of BTS a few weeks prior, as requested by his managers.

They had assumed M/N and BTS fans would be alright with the relationship and offer even more support, given how closely-knit the two fandoms were with their idols and each other, but they gained a lot of surprising, unprecedented backlash from a good portion of both fandoms. Most of the international fans on both sides didn't seem to have an issue, but there were the few K-fans that had no problem expressing their distaste with nasty words or videos of them burning and tearing up merchandise.

Now, M/N had no problem with those people-he no longer considered them fans, more so delusional crybabies-but the hate began to slowly transition from un-stanning the male, to bashing on his and Hoseok's relationship. People tweeting out how Hoseok could do much better than him with one of his own band members or how they would have never thought he would choose someone as, 'ugly', or as, 'fat', as M/N. Some toxic BTS 'fans' even going as far as to threaten to kill M/N and his family for 'being with their Hobi'.

M/N never really cared about the hate comments regarding himself on the internet, dusting them off of his shoulders like a bothersome gnat, but whenever they involved something about his loved ones, the cuts tend to run deep.

A tear runs down M/N's cheek and he takes a shaky breath, his palms now beginning to take on a building sweat but his grip holds firm on the rail. A cool breeze runs over him on that late autumn night and he shivers, his fingers tightening.

Of course, BigHit and M/N's company have been trying to do something about the threats, bumping up the security for both idols and even giving M/N's family escorts for when they leave the house, but, so far, nothing has happened to them.

With BTS' popularity continuously growing in South Korea and all over the world, M/N thought it would have been bad press for the group if Hoseok was to remain involved with him seeing as most (if not all) of the hate was directed towards him, so he suggested that they break up to avoid it. M/N was fairly new to the whole idol thing, only becoming a soloist a year ago, so he figured his career would survive. Hoseok had frowned at his boyfriend, the expression looking unnatural and even a little intimidating on his face, and immediately recanted, saying that the hate didn't bother him.

It bothers M/N, though.

"God, I hope he goes missing or something," the words of the people he once thought were fans runs through the male's head while he watches the dark water beneath him slosh and sway in the wind.
