He then began to serenade her with the Music of the Night, singing the lines of "Slowly, gently night unfolds its splendor, grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender, turn your face away from the garish light of day, turn your thoughts away from cold unfeeling light and listen to the music of the night. You alone can make my song take flight, help me make the music of the night."
Once the Angel awakened, she saw the Phantom writing his music on his organ. It was an enormous blur. As she approached the Phantom she had noticed that he had been wearing a mask on one side of his face. Curious as to what was on the Phantom's face she went to tear the mask off, a monstrosity of a man had shown like no other. Screaming at the Angel in anger he said
"Stranger than you dreamt can you even dare to look, or bear to think of me this loathsome gargoyle who burns in hell, but secretly yearns for heaven secretly, secretly... But Christine... Fear can turn to love you'll learn to see, to find the man behind the monster this repulsive carcass who seems a beast but secretly dreams of beauty, secretly, secretly... Oh, Christine..." and when he spoke these words, Christine soon then gave back the mask and Christine hurried off with the Phantom back to the Paris Opera House.
