It had been a few years since that case. It wasn't a very long case, but even in the short amount of time we had worked together, I had managed to grow feelings for the mysterious detective I had worked on it with. I really didn't think I would ever see him again, let alone meet him in person, and yet, here we are. As I walked down the hall, I felt my stomach turn. I couldn't help but find myself growing nervous as we grew closer to his room. A swarm of questions ran through my mind. What would he look like? What kind of person would he really be like? Would he like me? I mentally scolded myself for that last one, this was a murder investigation, I couldn't afford to get distracted with such trivial things like feelings.
"What do you think he'll be like?" Matsuda broke the silence with a question of his own.
"How are we supposed to know?" Responded Aizawa.
Finally we reached L's room. Chief Yagami knocked.
"It's Unlocked. Please Let yourselves in"
A voice, muffled by the door, called out from within the room.
The Chief took the handle of the door, and turned it. I entered the room, along with the others. Standing there, starching his right ankle with his left foot, was a man I could only assume was L. He was, to put it simply, very different then I thought he would be. He was much younger than I expected, seeming to only be in his early to mid twenties. Despite his young age, he was quite tall, however, his slouching made him appear shorter than he really was. His skin was nearly paper white, as if he hadn't left his house in years; which knowing him, was actually entirely possible. Leaving the house wasn't the only thing he seemingly hadn't done in years. The deep bags beneath his eyes made it seem as if he hasn't slept once in his entire life. His jet black hair, which matched perfectly with his dark, empty eyes, hadn't been combed recently either, it stuck out in every direction. He wore only a long sleeved white shirt, with a pair of baggy blue jeans, not bothering to put on shoes or even socks. He may have been very different then I expected, but it wasn't a bad difference. I would be lying if I said I didn't find him somewhat attractive in a strange way. Whether he actually was good looking or my affection for him had warped my opinion, I couldn't tell.
"I am L" He said. The rest of the task force and I simply stood there, surprised by the man in front of us. Finally the Chief spoke, holding up his badge as he did,
"I'm Chief Yagami, of the MPA" he said. The other proceeded to show their badges and say their names as well. Seeing as L already knew who I was, I didn't feel introducing myself was necessary. L raised his arm, pointing his finger at Yagami as if it were a gun.
"Bang!"
"What the hell was that?" Questioned Aizawa.
"If I were Kira, you'd be dead Mr. Soichiro Yagami, Chief of the MPA" L explained.
"Kira needs a face and a name in order to commit murder, but I'm sure you've already figured that out, haven't you? Please don't hand out your name so carelessly, instead, let's value our lives" he said, in an uninterested tone.
"And you," He said, turning to me, holding up his hand like a gun again.
"You'd have died long before even making it to this room" he pointed out.
I stood there awkwardly not knowing how I was supposed to react to something like that. I quickly tried to pull myself together, I didn't want to embarrass myself in front if L.
"But I'm alive" was all I managed to say.
"That you are. I'm quite glad. It would be a shame to lose such a brilliant detective. So don't go dying on me alright?" he said. I felt my cheeks heat up slightly. He turned back to the others.
