It was Discussed at our last meeting, that Kira was one of the suspects being followed by the FBI, naturally, L request the homes of those being followed be rigged with Cameras and wire taps. Yagami didn't take to kindly to this request. Apparently one of the suspects being followed by an FBI agent named Ray Penber, was a brilliant high school honor student by the name of Light Yagami, son of Chief Yagami. The others insisted L give up on suspecting the Yagami family, but L was dead set on watching over Light."But he has a wife, and young daughter!" Matsuda tried to explain.
"Their shouldn't a problem with Yagami watching over his own wife. As for his daughter, we can have (Y/N) keep surveillance over her, if that's alright with Yagami-San, of course" L turned to the Chief in question.
"I'd feel more comfortable knowing (L/N) was watching Sayu, rather then some old men like us" He said.
"Then it's settled. We will take care of Yagami house hold, the rest of you shall be watching the Kitamura Family"
By the time the afternoon had ended, there wasn't a place left in either house that was free of cameras. While installing the cameras Watari came across something, something quite interesting. Stuck inside the door to Light's room, was a small piece of paper. If the door were opened the paper scrap would fall out, alerting Light someone had entered his room with out his knowledge. Light was but a student, what could he possibly being hiding that was so bad it called for security measures? Surprisedly, L didn't seem all that bothered or interested in the paper, unlike the Chief, who was beginning to grow worried. He didn't want to believe his son could actually be hiding something suspicious. I sat alone in a room with The Chief and L watching the empty house, boredly waiting for one of the Yagami's to return. Well, I was bored at least, L seemed quiet interested, even though there wasn't really anything to be interested in. We all watched with great interest as Light finally entered the house. He called out to see if anyone else was home, and retreated to his bed room once realized he was alone. He proceeded to remove his uniforms blazer. My cheeks grew red in embarrassment as he began to unbutton his shirt. I turned away from the screen all together when he reached for his pants. I admit, Light wasn't bad looking, but I still didn't want to see him change. A few minutes later, I felt a light tap on my shoulder.
"He's done" Said L. I turned my attention back to my screen, and was met with the sight of Light in fresh cloths. He headed back for his door, placed the paper slip back in its place, satisfied once it was secure.
"What could he possible be hiding in there that he doesn't want anyone else to see?" The Chief question aloud.
"For a seventeen year old kid I wouldn't say this kind of behavior is particularly abnormal. When I was his age I did strange things too.." L said calmly. This peaked my interest. He was strange already, how stranger could he have been? Light left the house again, leaving us to wonder where he was going.
"Does your son often go places after school?" Asked L.
"Not usually" The Chief admitted.
"Hm. Perhaps he is just on a walk" L said, although it was obvious he didn't believe that to the case.
Eventually Light, as well and his mother, and Sister, Sayu, returned to the home. I was in charge of Sayu, so I watched the monitors that showed the living room, where she was watching TV. Mean while, L and The Chief keep their eyes on Lights rooms.
"I can't believe my son is looking at those magazines.." The Chief muttered. Curious, I snuck a quick glance at Lights monitor. I really didn't take him for the type of look at.. not child friendly... magazines.. I mean hey I'm not judging you do your thing I guess..
"It's normal for a seventeen year old" L pointed out in a most emotionless tone.
"But it seems contrived. It's to obvious. The only reason he didn't want anyone in his room was so they wouldn't see his magazines? That's what he wants us to think.." He explained.
"Hey! That's my son you're talking about. You're honestly telling me you suspect him?" Yagami questioned, angrily. I sat there awkwardly, continuing to watch Sayu.
"I do. That's why I placed Cameras and wire taps in you're house and the deputy directors house" L calmly respond. Sayu sat up from the couch she had been lounging in.
"Light! Come on, dinners ready!" She called up to him, before running back to the TV. She began ranting some movie star while Light and his mother began eating. L pulled out his phone and spoke with Aizawa for a moment, before turning to Watari.
"Sayu, just eat your dinner" her mother said.
"I'll eat later-Huh? What's this? She looked at the TV with a confused face.
"ICPU? They're saying that in response to the Kira murders the Interpol has decided to dispatch a force of fifteen hundred investors to Japan. Fifteen hundred? Woah!" Light didn't look very impressed, unlike his sister.
"The ICPU sure is stupid. I mean there's no point in making this announcement. If they're gonna send all these people here to investigate, shouldn't they do it in secret? Even the FBI agents that were killed my kira why, would this be any different? If you ask me this is nothing more then a desperate attempt to shook Kira so he'll revel himself somehow" L watched silently as Light explained exactly what it was we had done.
"Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if Kira sees right through this" a small Laugh escaped L, as his he slide his thumb under his top lip.
"You're son is clever, isn't he?"
"Well..yes.."
Light stood and headed for a cabinet. He pulled out a bag of Consommé flavored potato chips, to which Sayu was very surprised by.
"Chips after dinner? You're good looks are gonna go down the drain if you keep that up" she warned him.
"It's a mid-night snack for studying" he informed her. The rest of night was uneventful, for he first part at least. Sayu finished her TV, and talked to some friends on the phone for a while, before her mother made her head to bed. Her mother followed suit falling asleep shortly after her daughter. Light seated himself at his desk, and pulled out a notebook. He began righting down math problems, and solving them, with ease. He took a potato chip.. and ate it... it wasn't all that exciting. He just ate it and it was gone. What did you expect? Some dramatic telling? Epic music? What is this an anime? Nope. He ate the chip and that was that. He continued Studying.
"Sir. A bank owner being questioned for embezzlement and, a purse snatcher were announced on the news a few moments ago. They both just died of sudden explicable heart attacks!" Watari informed L.
"But that means.. Lights innocent!" I said.
"Yes it does.." L don't seem very happy, unlike the Chief, who sighed in relief.
"Only one day and the Yagami family already seems innocent. Too innocent.." Rather then clearing Light of any suspicious, as it should've, it this whole situation only farther deepened L's suspicion.
