*Flashback*

Grade 10:

It was the beginning of summer and the sun was setting on the horizon, the roads were empty for once, and it was quiet... peaceful.

"Hey mi amor!" Alex waved at Dan as they met up at a park, this was usual for them at this point, the big lake nearby, a few scattered trees, a soccer field not too far away as they walked over to the plaza, next to the playground, walking behind it and smiling, genuine smiles.

"Hey Al, I love you."

"I love you too. Is everything alright?"

Dan smiled softly, the smile seemed somewhat fake but Alex just waved it off, maybe he had just remembered something?

"Yeah, everything is alright, how about we go for a walk?"

"Sure!"

They walked around for what seemed to be hours, but they enjoyed every moment of it, finally they had arrived at the lake, smiling happily, Daniel took a deep breath and spoke up.

"Hey Alex, you see those ducks over there?" He pointed in the opposite direction of where they were.

"What ducks Dan?" Alex looked over in the general direction his boyfriend had pointed to, not seeing any ducks, finally looking back, expecting Dan to be standing up and looking down on his short self.

Daniel laughed softly as he got down on one knee in front of the surprised Alex, a smile on both of their faces with an obvious blush dusting Alex's.

"Alex, I know we're only 16, we're still in highschool and many other things. But I don't care, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, start a family with you. I love you...

So...

Will you marry me?"

Alex tried to find the words to speak but struggled, instead just nodding and just pulling Daniel into a kiss, both of them wrapping their arms around the other as they heard cheering from the nearby bushes.

Pulling away from the kiss, they both got to see their friends appearing from the bushes, cheering them on.

*Flashback Over*

Alex sighed softly, resting his head against the headstone.

"You remember that night mi amor? I certainly do." Alex's face was one of satisfaction, a soft blush dusting his cheeks as he remembered that night, looking down at the rings on his finger.

...

"God, Simon loves to talk about that day, even if he didn't even exist then. He misses you too by the way, I hope you know that. He's all grown up now and tries to visit you as much as he can, though, I don't think he'll ever visit as much as I do." He chuckled softly to himself.
