I was collecting my thoughts as I stood in the dark room contained by the moonlight and the silence between us.

how did he manage to enter the house and come meet me?
what is he here to say?

it was frustrating enough that I was left by myself and my painful assumptions so
I decided to be the one to break the silence.

"why are you here?"

he just stood there softly staring and his eyes seemed genuine.
he doesnt lie.
I could sense that.

he looked over the windows and turned to me again, I noticed he was much taller than me.
it must have been paniful hiding in those bushes.

"why did you help me?"

his voice sounded much more gentle than I could remember from the first time I spoke to him

yet is this what he actually wants to ask?
after all this?
what am i supposed to reply to this my god,

"didn't you seek for me to help you?"

"absolutely not."

"then why were you making conversation with me? was it all but a friendly chatter for you?"

"you questioned me and I answered,"

"well you could have chose not to,"

"you left me no choice, you pushed a spear right into my arm,"

"that was another reaction because of your silence,"

"I was going to go my way and I never thought of you as any means of being my saviour alright I-,"

"so you do accept that I saved you?"

she could sense him tighten his jaw even under his mask.
his arrogance baffled her yet she continued,

"you should be grateful young man that I did not rat you out to these scavengers so keep your adamance out when you talk to me,"

"I did find a way to escape but you delayed my plans and changed the course of it,"

"well you weren't silent enough, that proves your incompetence, and I have all the rights to delay your plans cause you were in my property, I can't actually believe y-,"

"your property yes, precisely why you don't understand as to why I ask of your intention,"

"oh why? is it so threatening for your ego that a woman has saved you?,"

"don't mistake me, but it is threatening that you are one from this family,"

"what are you trying to suggest? i am comple-,"

"your father is one of the most influential men in this country, a mere speck of dust on you can summon his attention and wh-,"

"he is influential only cause he has a fixed set of priorities and a bleeding daughter isn't one of them. these are mere reasons,"

why did i say that to him

there was a moment of interruption from below
and we turned around to see a fat man laughing and spilling his drink on the lawn.

I sighed.
it was the new jewellery trader that ayya had brought in from Calcutta and was on the list of men I sincerely disliked.

"I carry a huge responsibility,"

I looked away from the window and turned to face him as he continued speaking,

"I am from a group of people fighting a great cause, something bigger than all of this and it is my job to leave behind no trace,
I can't risk it,"
