They first came as traders
Seeking market for their wares
Welcomed with drums and dancing
They came the second time
with friendship alongside the swordWith that arrogance of superiority
The exploitation began in earnest
to get the people's wealth
the traded first with the resources
And then with the people
to build them their great empire.People taken out of their homes
and their people
into faraway unknown lands beyond the sea
never to be seen
never to be heardAble-bodied men, women and children
shipped into turbulence and misery
Children grappled for their parents
women for their family
men for their dreams
dreams were not only deferred but destroyed. The journey was filled with hunger, hunger for freedom, for life, for the past
the weak ones died and the strong were broken
Chained, turned into beasts to burdens, slaves
Life became death and death life. They were used to build them their nation
forgetting their mothers tongue
due to the long sorrowful years
spent in a foreign land
still couldn't pick up the new tongue
They formed theirs
Saved bits of history
They lost themselves
Running away from death, the ran into it.
Yet while this happened the world was silent.😞A/N
