It is the day after your return and you are thinking about how the team will celebrate. You are also thinking about how you could celebrate. There is a knock on your door. You get up to answer it and you are happy to see Mitch.
"I was thinking you should pick the place that we are going to celebrate," Mitch remarks as you gesture for him to come in. You let a slight giggle loose. Mitch gives you a confused look.
"I was thinking about what we were going to do," You respond. At least it is easy to have a giggle. You come up with an interesting idea for what you could do to celebrate. Hopefully the others agree.
"Mitch can you gather the others in thirty minutes please?"
"Yeah sure," Mitch responds. There is something a little off about him. He looks like he has just forgotten what he wants to say.
"Mitch do you have something to ask?" You enquire. He shakes his head because he has forgotten entirely.
"I'll let you know when I remember," He replies. You can tell that he is really embarrassed that he can't remember. Twenty minutes later you are waiting in the lobby for the others and you are lost in your thoughts about the first few games. You start to whistle a random song. You are glad that the others can't hear you.
"I think you are whistling the tune wrong if you are whistling Queen," Jason Spezza remarks bringing you back to reality.
"You would be right if I was whistling a Queen song but I am just whistling something random," You respond. You start to scan the lobby for the rest of the team. They are not far behind. They soon gather around you. The attention makes you feel uncomfortable.
"So where are we going?" Auston asks.
"I was thinking we could go somewhere that sells poutine," You reply. It won't be the same as your mum's but it will do. A ripple of agreement flows through the group. Ten minutes later you have made it to a place that Mitch has suggested. Everyone except Auston, Frederick and Morgan have taken a seat at the table. The thought of what Mitch was going to ask you last night suddenly creeps up on you but you decide to ignore it. Auston, Frederick and Morgan all have their hands full of food. They distribute the food across the table. Your mouth starts to water at the smell of poutine. Danny glances at everyone and then he tucks in.
"That was quick Danny," You tease him because you know how much he likes poutine.
"Well I'm sorry that I am hungry," He retorts between mouthfuls. Everyone else tucks in. You are impressed at the flavour explosion that has hit your mouth.
"It was a good suggestion Jay," Mitch remarks as he finishes his mouthful.
"And I just remembered what I wanted to ask you last night,"
"What were you going to ask me?" You are a little worried that he is going ask something private.
"I was thinking you and I could go out together when we arrive back in Toronto," He replies. He is trying his best to whisper what he wants to say. You have to be careful about your response. You can feel Ilya glancing at you. He is hoping that you will say yes.
"Sure but I think Ilya heard you," You remark. Mitch starts to get a little flustered. It is the day after you left Montreal. You are impatiently waiting for Mitch.
"Jaylyn are you sure you have everything?" Your mum has decided to check on you.
"Mum I'm old enough for you not to worry," You reply. You know she is not going to stop worrying about you but you try your best to get her to calm down. There is a knock on the door. You answer the door with an excessive amount of force. Mitch is taken aback.
"Sorry Mitch but I'm really excited,"" You apologise to him.
"Let's go," He responds as he holds out his hand. You take it as you leave. You soon make it to a restaurant. You can feel the glances from the patrons. They have probably recognised you and Mitch. Unlike the first time that someone recognised you, you are comfortable with the idea. Mitch pulls the seat out for you.
"Thank you Mitch," You respond as you sit down. You start to look at the menu but you are distracted by the thought that someone is watching.
"Mitch do you think we could order something to share?" You decide to trust Mitch. He nods. Ten minutes later the food came. You tuck in but you notice a little girl who is talking to her mum about you and Mitch.
"Jay are you alright?" He is confused by your glances.
"I think that little girl wants to say hi," You respond. As soon as you respond she approaches the table. She has a pen and a napkin.
"Excuse me are you Jaylyn Paris," She holds the napkin up.
"Yes would you like me to sign the napkin for you?" The girl nods as you take it from her. You quickly sign it. The girl leaves before Mitch can do anything. You start to giggle. You and Mitch soon get back to eating. Thirty minutes later you have finished the food and you are wandering around the streets of Toronto with Mitch. You are lost in your thoughts about Mitch. You are debating on whether or not there is actually something between you and Mitch.
"Mitch would you say there is something between us?" You ask. Mitch nods which causes your heart to skip a beat. At least he agrees with you.
"Are you enjoying yourself?" Mitch asks. You can tell that he is worried about the walk.
"Yes I am enjoying myself," You respond. It's not hard to enjoy one's self with the person that they like.
