Thank you for listening (alsoyabetterobeymahinstructions), i'mma show myself out now...
A deep, haughty cackle echoed and bounced off the walls of the shadowy corridors as a raven, redhead, and pinkette1 scurried through, like mice in a maze.
"It's getting closer..." the raven breathed.
"Quick! Hide!" the one with a head of wiry flames said urgently, diving in on both the raven and pinkette, pushing them into the far corner of a stone statue depicting a magnificent deer with a silky ponytail on top it's head, and what looked like the antlers protruding from its hind, where the tail was supposed to be.
There they waited, eyes wide and hardly daring to breathe, until the threat (which was the ghost of a boy dressed in hideous jester clothing and sporting a funny hat with numerous bells on its many pointed tips, shortly followed by a heavily panting skeletal man with explosive anger issues, hollering threats and curses left and right) was gone.
"Phew!" He let out a relieved sigh, then emerged out of the statue with the pinkette and raven trailing behind him.
"What was that about?" the pinkette asked, mentally drowning in confusion.
"The translucent clown guy's a... poltergeist, if I remember correctly." Ron scratched the back of his head and stared upwards into space, as if he was trying to remember something. "Only here to cause havoc and make lives hard for whoever he lays his eyes on. He beat even Fred and George in some kind of 'prank war' they got themselves into last year! Can you believe it? They've been sworn off as fated rivals ever since. Mum wasn't very happy 'cause some of the homemade sweaters she knitted were ruined in the process. Trust me, we can't take any chances. Run into him and there's no doubt we're gonna miss the entire lesson!"
Harry nodded earnestly. "Right. No chances."
They stopped in front of a door marked with an assortment of strange symbols.
"Hmm, wonder what the symbols mean. They're cooool."
"This is the right one, right?"
"Positive."

The entire room smelt strongly of garlic; to which Sakura scrunched up her nose to. They walked all the way to the other side of the classroom, where their fellow Gryffindors sat.
Professor Quirell, the professor in charge of the lesson, stood in front of a sea of first-year students, half of them sporting chivalrous red ties, and the other an elegant shade of green. All of them chatted among themselves, almost as if there was a mysterious barrier drawing a firm line between them, all the while keeping them from mixing.
"Ugh, I can't stand the smell." a girl from beside Harry gagged, choking from the horrible whiff rebelling down her airways. A quick glance at the Slytherins showed that several were beginning to become as green as their ties.
"Garlic." a boy groaned to no one in particular, fanning his face with his textbook.
"What? Whyy?" (Whyarewehere?Justtosuffer...)
"To ward off vampires." A girl who had a mask on stated. "My brother told me he'd encountered a vampire in Romania in his younger days and thinks he's still hunting him down 'till this day."
"What a joke..." Ron pinched his nose.
"Yeah, he should be taking this as an opportunity!" Sakura sighed, feigning a look of mock disappointment.
