"Let me go I didn't do anything-! ouf-" the police officers restraining me shoved my face on the hood of my car, cracking my prescription glasses. I couldn't talk more. I couldn't even think. As they recited to me my rights I couldn't bring myself to listen and sulked in restrainment. Yada yada a week later I found myself in the Dolphin Street prison. I didn't do anything but I know what I was sentenced for. 15 years in jail and 15 years probation for manslaughter. Well that's beyond bullshit...
Once again I woke up in agony. I have prescription painkillers that I have to take daily for my spine that was kicked in when I was 17. I wonder if they'll allow me to have more. I groaned
"Guess... I can't get up today... can you bring me some breakfast...?"
he flipped his book upside down and faced me on the top bunk with a smirk "no sweat, Noriaki. I'll bring you your food"
him using my first name rubs me the wrong way but that might be how they refer to each other in America. He left the room "oh, and can you ask for painkillers?" no response. I hope he heard me. I sigh, trying to sit up. I can't see very well without my glasses so the scenery is a bit blurry. There was a desk and a poster, and the room had a faint scent of dirty clothes, nothing else. I sat up for a while, adjusting my posture. It sure is taking him a long time to get that food isn't it? I wish I had my cane to check out what was going on. He's probably ditched me... I wish he would've let me take the bottom bunk, I cant get down. Then I saw a tall black haired officer walk by the door with his hands in his pockets "h-hey! sir!" he glanced at me, his hat covered his eyes
"yes?" his aggressive but soft voice made my heart flutter
"uhm" I laughed quietly "c-can you help me get down?"
he looked around the hallways for a bit and then walked in the room with me
"are you hurt?" he asked consolingly
"yeah... my spine has been hurt for a while... I was actually supposed to get surgery on it in a month..." I quieted down
"put your arms around my neck. I'll help you"
this man... He's gullible for a cop... How can he trust me? I could have a knife or.. something to hurt him with... I held onto his neck and he curled his hands under my upper thighs, harmlessly lifting me up and setting me on the ground. We stood around the same height but he was a bit taller than me, a lot more built too. He stared at me and I finally saw his eyes. They're so beautiful... Like an ombré mix of blue and shine coming from the dim lights
"ahem..." he finally took his hands off my rear "you should get breakfast before it's all out. Don't tell anyone about me helping you." he speed walked out of the room
"w-wait!" he already had no intention of staying. I sighed, sulking out of the room. Not too long later, I bumped into someone again "sorry-" I looked up, it was Guess, and he had no food with him. "Guess? where were you!?"
his face glistened with sweat "um..." he looked like he had just been caught cheating "I forgot you were here. I thought you got up and got some yourself" he cracked a dirty smirk.
I sigh "is there anything left...? for breakfast?"
he put his hands in his pockets with another guilty smile "you can check. I'm going back to the room" that's que for him to steal something from me while I'm at the cafeteria
"no thanks. I'm going back to the room"
"whatever suits you"
we headed back to the room. Guess ranted about the food being crappy for the rest of the time we were in the cell together. I was granted special privileges due to my injury, I mostly hung out in the nurses room. the nurses changed a lot, sometimes an officer with medical experience will volunteer and other times prisoners with a good reputation would volunteer.
Nothing special happened for the rest of the day.
