You could also say that Kenji's upbringing was one big story cliche

From his mother dying at childbirth, to his dad blaming him for it and subsequently beating him every day for the smallest of things Kenji's life was hell

But who would have thought that his dead mom's quirk and his dad's would be so powerful

You see his mother's quirk was that any liquid that she drank could be expelled by her syringe-like fingers

And that his father's quirk was having vents in his back that could suck in air and store it in his arms which would inflate,
allowing him to blast air from his mouth, not very useful if you can't control the power of it

When a couple with two different quirks have a child there are three possibilities

one: The child will inherit either the quirk of the mom or the dad

Two: The child will get a completely different quirk from his parents

Three: The child's quirk will be a combination of the parent's quirk resulting in a unique quirk

Kenji's was the latter of the three outcomes, his quirk is Air compressor he inherited his mother's syringe-like fingers and his father's air storing abilities but with a key difference when the air is in his arms inflate he can compress them to normal size and essentially make highly pressurized air that shoots out of a narrow exit and depending on how much he compresses his arms he can control the output of it

A key flaw that was present in his dad

Now he was 17 when his criminal record started

He was mugged by two emitter type users

But as they were leaving he had sucked in as much air as he could and compressed it

And then he lunged at one of them and he sunked his needles into his back and released all the air he had and the guy blew up

From then on he had been on the run until he met a blue-haired man in an alley on a dark night

'So I hear you have a powerful quirk, Kazeki Kenji' the man in a black hoodie said to him as he got closer

Kenji instinctively pumped as much air as he could Just incase

What's it to you? He asked

Well you see I'm rounding up some guys to do a job

What's in it for me?

Well..let's...see how about... your ability to use your arms! Tomura had a crazed look on his face

Kenji's flight or fight response kicked in and he threw himself at the man in the black hoodie, but all of the sudden a black portal appeared and as his hand went through it he saw it reappear going for his head, but luckily he stopped just in time

Damnit Kurogri I told you to wait!
It was just getting interesting

I'm sorry master Tomura but my orders are to protect you

Ah whatever Tomura said rolling his eyes

Now I will ask you again will you join me?

Kenji sighed in defeat
