Confession

Eddie's POV:

I sat with my legs splayed over Bills', contemplating whether I should call Richie or not.
"J-just call hi-him!" Bill exclaimed.
"But what do I sayyy?" I whined, looking at the phone at the other end of the room.
"I-i don't know, suh-some of your lovey duh-dovey crap." He replied, glancing up at me with an eyebrow raised.

I internally rolled my eyes but reluctantly got up and trudged to the phone.
"But I don't know his-" I started
"Don't lie." Bill said, not looking up from his book. I pursed my lips and dialed his number.

"Hey, who is this?" His cheerful words came after two rings. My eyes widened. He didn't know my number but I knew his, I probably seemed like a creep.

There was a long pause.

Richie cleared his throat, "hi Eddie." I blinked multiple times before talking back.
"You idiot! I thought I was like a freaking stalker!" He chuckled.
"Guess we're both stalkers huh? Or maybe just me since you seem to be doing the opposite." The end of the sentence was sharp and made me flinch.

"Look, I'm sorry 'chee." I replied, gripping the phone until my knuckles went white.
"Okay, but why?" He sighed.
"Why what?" I asked, twirling the wire around my fingers like the typical teenage girl.
"Oh c'mon Eddie, don't act dumb you little crap."

I scrunched up my nose. I mean he did have the right to say that.
"I-i just-"
"Now you sound like Bill." I frowned again.
"Nothing wrong with that!"I exclaimed.

On the other end, Richie took a deep breath.
"Just tell me." His words seemed forced and I didn't wanna make him angry.
"I didn't know what I was feeling towards you! I've never felt like this to Bill, Ben or any other boy! I was scared and ma has always told me about how bad it is to like boys. And I-i don't know if I like you! Heck, I don't even really know you."

I went on for another 5 minutes and Richie stayed in silence, letting it all soak in. I finished and the line was quiet.

"You like me?"
