I woke up to an empty bed and felt deflated. Was last night all in my head? I bet it was, I was even more lonely these days especially when the man I wanted was so close yet so far.

But then I smelled something cooking and if it wasn't Grace burning something...

I hurriedly put on some clothes and ran downstairs, admittedly like a child on Christmas morning.

I saw Steve flipping something in a frying pan.

So.. that really happened.. wow.

"Good morning," he said without looking at me when I walked in. His hair was starting to grow out more and I really liked it. It always made me irritated when he got one of those short buzz cuts. Why would he do that when his hair was spectacular when left to its own devices? I would never know.

"Morning," I replied.
I watched the muscles flex through his shirt as he cooked. Man, I could get used to this.

He set the food down in front of me and we ate in almost complete silence.

"Are we going to talk about.." he began.

"Last night?" I too felt weird.
He nodded.

"Well it was.. nice?" I winced.

"You aren't wrong there," he murmured.

"Did you just admit that I was right?"

"Don't let it get to your head Danny, we had a fun night and learned why we could never hang onto girlfriends," Steve wore this mischievous grin on his face that made me both anxious and relieved. If that makes sense..

After breakfast I put the plates away and felt his arms wrap around my stomach. I closed my eyes, willing myself not to do anything to ruin this moment.

"Are you okay with this? Us?" He whispered against my neck.

I nodded.

"Good, because so am I,"
