"So...", Lia drags out. We decided to hang out at her place after school and plopped on the couch the minute we reached there. Her parents weren't at home and wouldn't come back till dinner time.

"So what?", I ask. "Did you talk to him today or did you both just ignore each other like nothing ever happened?", she questions, her eyes wide with curiosity. I love Lia and absolutely trust that she wouldn't make my love life open to everyone by gossiping. Hell that dumb ass doesn't have anyone else to gossip with besides me. Not that we don't talk to people in school, we just like to keep most things to ourselves since we've known each other since our birth. Our mothers have been friends since their highschool and coincidentally, they both have daughters the same age so we instantly clicked.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by Lia shaking my shoulders rather violently,"Hailey stop spacing out". I look at her to find her staring at me with worried eyes. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine", I reply almost unsure about it myself.
"I spoke to Damien after lunch today", I say so quickly I doubt she understood.

"WHAT?", she screams loudly causing me to wince. I take a deep breath and begin telling her everything that happened in the janitor's closet and luckily she lets me talk without interrupting me(thank god or I would have strangled her). After I finish there is a minute of silence when she decided to shut up and process everything.

"Damn, I did not expect that!", she exclaims. "Yeah, I know. Even I didn't", I reply.

It's been a couple of hours since Lia and I had that talk. We decided to order pizza and watch a movie. I reach out for my third slice to find nothing.

"You ate the last slice", I scream. Lia looks at me holding a half eaten slice. She looks at the empty pizza box, then her hand before she looks at me and shrugs in response.

"You're mean", I moan. "You're just dramatic", she replied nonchalantly and gets back to watching the movie. I look at the time and decide it's time for me to go home.

"I think I should go home now", I say. She looks at me, hand empty as she ate the last slice and asks "Do you want me to drive you?"
"Nah, I'll walk home, it won't take me long anyways". Lia's house is a 10 minute walk away from mine. "Okay, be careful and text me when you reach", she says

My mom opens the door for me and smiles
"Hey sweetie". "Hey mom, how was work?"
She shrugs and replies, "Like usual". My mom is a dentist. I don't get to see her much since she works full time ever since my dad passed away.

I don't really remember my dad since he passed away when I was only 3, but I do have some hazy memories of him smiling looking at me, him laughing while playing ball with me.
Mom obviously misses him more than I do.

I do however remember how my mom was depressed for a couple of years after his passing. Lia's mom used to babysit me a lot during those times.

"Dinner will be ready in fifteen minutes go wash up", my mom tells me. My mom loves cooking so she makes it a point to try and cook as much as she can despite her working full time. I don't mind that since dinner is the only meal we both have together. It's like a daily mother daughter bonding moment for us.

I go up to my room and as I change I wonder where Damien and I stand. I wonder if he told anyone about that night. I mean everyone does confide about these things to their friends right?

Does that change anything now? Will we maybe acknowledge each other when we pass by the corridors? Will we smile or maybe wave at each other or will it just me the awkward trying to avoid meet eyes moment?

I guess only time will tell.
