A lady came over to the control room, looking around and then looked out at the chamber through the window.
"What is his status?"
"Are you really just worried about him, miss? Aren't you worried about the others?"
"Don't act like that with me. You know I care about everyone equally..."
"Right... Well, I guess it's stable for now."
The lady bit her nails, nervous and impatient.
"I really can't stay here for too long... I'll go now..."Filak stood at the ridge, it was getting dark. Everyone gathered themselves up, checking their equipment. Skif was pretty interested in the way the plan turned out to be and asked first.
"You sure you'll be safe by yourself?"
"I'm gonna have HQ watch over the base with me. When Phase 2 happens, that is, if we still follow Plan Alpha, I will move out and then heavy security will be activated. Plus from the outside, the base looks like an abandoned lighthouse anyway."
"I see, thank you for the answer."
"Anyone else want to ask something?"
Wesson, sitting on the side of a dinghy, looked up at Filak with unsure eyes, knowing that she might see Koch again.
"What happens if Alpha fails..?"
"...Don't let thoughts that aren't related to the mission get to your head. If it gets to that I'll pull a flare on you."
When Filak spoke out his first reply to her question, Wesson raised her head, surprised.
"How did you..."
Filak was already turned around.
"We're in the same boat."
"Right..."
Filak quickly and silently wiped his face and then turned to everyone.
"Let's do this. I believe that you can do it."
Everyone stood up, recollecting themselves, and then splitting in half for the two teams. And then, the captain watched his teams move out, as he was holding onto a cap this whole time, and then looks at it. He gets reminded of a simpler time back at the Rhein Theater. He saw the same cap on Helian all the time. And then he sighed, putting it on.
"I have about an hour... I'll sleep for a bit. I didn't get that much since yesterday."It was silent on both of the teams. It was really tense, and most importantly, they were made to be prepared for absolutely every situation.
Sauer sighed, really doubting herself.
"Can we actually do it..?"
"Oh, mein Freund, ja, we can! I believe that if we concentrate, we can do anything!"
Walther happily and reassuringly replied, grabbing onto her shoulder to give a sense of closeness. Simonov decided to join in with his strong Russie accent.
"There was this one captain that my base really loved... He told us that teamwork is always key to victory. Worrying about others is also normal, especially for spec-teams like ours... I have never been a spetznaz member until Filak got captured and Helian saved him and captured me. It's not being worried about the future but about the now. The consequences don't matter if you won't matter if you don't live to see them." Sauer held onto herself...
Skif decided to hop on to seal the conversation.
"I'm not a person that speaks a lot, but you're worrying too much, Sauer. Really. Just calm down... and then we'll get nervous after the deed is done."
Sauer sighed...
"A-Alright... I won't disappoint you...""W-Wait.. Did he just..? He's waking up!"
Sirens began blaring, as a bunch of workers put on gas masks and came into the chamber. They quickly began forcing sleeping gas inside of the chamber, overlooking the subjects. The one in the middle was wide awake, looking around. A worker stepped back a bit in fear and yelled in the radio with a thick accent.
"NUMBER 2 IS AWAKE! HE IS LOOKING AT ME RIGHT NOW!"
"Replace his gas and water control immediately! Make sure there's enough resources left!"
The workers began doing what they were ordered, opening the capsule and doing a direct injection in the arm of the person, as he struggled to stay awake, and closed his eyes back.
"What about now, doc? Is he back in hibernation? We changed the water, gas, and did a direct injection."
"Heart rate seems to be stabilizing... And his body is going back into a hibernation state... Yes, yes it is secure- Agh- Miss wait!-"
The doctor on the radio quickly shifted over to a mad female voice.
"WHAT IS THE PROBLEM THIS TIME? WHY DID HE WAKE UP?!"
The workers looked at their leader and sighed a bit madly and nervously, knowing they screwed
up.
"I-I-I do not know, miss! L-Last week we checked everything was as it was supposed to be!"
"THEN WHY THE FUCK DID HE WAKE UP?? IF THE REPLACEMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR NEXT WEEK, WHY DID HE WAKE UP?!"
"M-Miss, Please calm down, maybe it's not their fault..."
"If it's not them, then who's, doctor?!"
The doctor pushed his glasses up, and told the workers to carefully retract and go back to their stations...
"Maybe it's more of a... why... not "who"..."
"You wanna tell me that was caused by something else?"
"Hell, maybe it's himself getting freewill during hibernation."
Then it went silent.
Then the lady wheezed, barely holding in laughing.
"W-What...?"
"Now you're spewing some interesting shit."
"I-I'm serious..."
Then she quickly calmed down, the doctor turning back to the observation window.
"Oh well. Good luck to you. Thank you for your work, doctor."
"All in a day's work, ma'am. Goodnight."
The lady left the control room.
"If only we had a way to track what they were going through..."
I don't know for sure what's a dream and what isn't anymore... I will just keep going until it all clears up.
