The morning wasn't the usual gray her cell provides, the chill that usually greets her was replaced by warmth. She could almost see the brilliant amber behind her lids, but she chose to not open her eyes just yet, relishing the comfort of the soft cushion she seems to lay on. The soft strands of her hair tickled her cheeks as she felt a soft breeze coming from her right as if there was a huge open window there. It was only when the wind carried a familiar scent did she finally opens her eyes—the scent of citrus and sea.
"I was wondering if I'd have to kiss you for you to wake up."
She was barely awake to process what happened to her, where she's currently at and the voice that spoke just now. Lisa blinked, seemingly still dazed from her sleep, however long that was. And that was when the memories surged in all at once. The arena, the boys, Levan, the fight and... her.
She can remember everything vividly despite her losing control. She almost died, Lisa thought to herself. She could've died, if not for...
She didn't realize she was so still, just looking at her palms as if she expects ice would materialize out of it any moment. It wasn't as if she was waiting for it to happen but instead, she's scared if it does happen again. The thought that something within her could potentially kill her, frightened her. What if she can't control it again? What if she hurts someone with it? What if...
"Should I be concerned or are you just going to keep staring at your palms?"
The king's voice brought her out of her reverie. The same voice that helped her abate her unruly powers. She didn't have time to hate him then or even question how and why it happened, but now that she's in control and no longer in the verge of freezing herself from the inside out, she finally let herself ask the question: how did he do it?
He spoke to her when she knew he was nowhere beside her at that moment, it was as if his voice was at the back of her mind, guiding her. As if her thoughts are in his and his in hers. It was odd that she couldn't really explain what it was like.
"What did you do to me?" she asked, subconsciously rubbing the once injured arm she assumed he healed, wondering if he did some type of magic that links her to him when he did.
The king tilted his head in question, though it looked like he knew exactly what she was talking about, he didn't say anything.
"I heard your voice. I know it was you. What did you do to me?"
"If that's your way of thanking me, then you are very welcome my lady." he responded, bowing gracefully.
She flinched at his satirical remark. Because no matter how much she hates the thought, he did save her. But Lisa didn't want it, whatever link or bond is between them, it made her feel vulnerable.
