Chapter Four: The Day I met Mrs.Heather

My last class was Music class, I didn't have Gigi, Instead, I had Latasha and Kalayah.

They were whispering and looking at me.

I decided not to go and sit next to them,I felt like they disliked me,I didn't know why.

Hey Maya cmhere and sit next to us will ya? Latasha yelled from across the room.

I got up and waved at them, Latasha smiled Kalayah gave me a dirty look.

I asked her,What's up? To her reply "Oh Nothing" with a mischievous look in her eyes.

Say, Which school are you from? Kalayah asked me sweetly.

Oh uh- I paused, Southside Middle School was the definition of Ghetto and Poor, Did i really want to explain why I transferred so early?

Um- I was homeschooled, I replied with.

Oh-Why'd you stop homeschooling she asked

Uh-My mom wanted me to be more Social,And Independent,So she transferred me here.

My brother didn't want homeschooling I added.

Kalayah looked defeated, She just answered with 'Interesting' and flipped her weave.

I turned and saw Mrs.Heather and the whole class staring at us, Patiently.

Are you finished? Mrs.Heather asked

Yes Ma'm

Do we look like we're finished Latasha whispered, Kalayah laughed and added 'Old Woman'

Mrs.Heather went on to say I'm Mrs.Heather, My job is not to force you to like music but enhance your ability. everyone can learn Music, Only the Brave will continue it she quoted.

First of all, We all memorized a song before correct?

Yes everyone answered, One boy named logan yelled "I only memorized Despacito!"

Very funny Logan, Mrs. Heather said laughing, Well she said clearing her throat, Any song is okay as long there are no bad words.

By the end of next week,I want you to find a song you really like, And sing a solo for the class.

Immediately, The Asian girl, Ling yelled Do we have to really loud.

Everyone laughed as she turned red.

No Ling you don't have to if you don't want to, But i'll count off some of the points and you can just turn in an essay or something.

Latasha whispered 'Her song is probably gonna be about DOGS!' Kalayah laughed and said 'Steamed or Boiled?'

I turned to them and said,Why're you guy so racist towards Ling? She's really nice and extremely smart.

Kalayah looked at me and said, Of course, YOU think she's nice,You're a newbie.

Latasha slapped her and said, what she meant to say is you know nothing about Ms.Ling over there.

I was shocked that I was just called a newbie, Why was Kalayah so rude to me?

Mrs.heather started talking again before I could reply, So Ladies And Gent's,I'll preform a solo to give you guys an idea'

*Ahem*

Ohh,When the child sleep's

Thats when the neighbor weeps

Mrs.Heather was so beautiful, It was so graceful, Her tone went up at the right moments, She made the song perfect!!

I clapped the loudest, Smiling and cheering.

I glanced at the other students to find out I was the only one, Other than Ling clapping still.

Someone whispered 'Nerd' And the class burst out laughing.

I tried to laugh it off but i was almost in tears!

Why were they so mean to me? I thought, Even Latasha And Kalayah laughed.

Mrs.Heather smiled and said Thank you Maya and Ling for liking my song so much! The rest of you,Point's deducted for being very rude, Logan after class.

'Bruh' "Awh man"

Kids shot me dirty looks.

I never fit in,with anybody
