It was a bright and shiny afternoon here in Los Angeles. Perfect for shopping. It was fall so it wasn't super hot outside which I appreciated. The good thing about California is that it's always warm. Even in the fall and winter.
Mrs. Flynn and I decided to go shopping. It was Saturday and I had nothing better to do.
She picked me up at 1 o'clock and headed towards Beverly Hills, Mrs. Flynn's favorite place to shop.
We arrived to the mall and started weaving in and out of stores.
"So how is long distance going?" Mrs. Flynn asked.
"Umm... it's going... it's harder than I expected. For some reason I feel like it's making me miss my mom even more. There's just so much going on with college applications and finishing up my last year of high school and being in a long distance relationship. It's all been hard to handle but I don't want to tell Noah everything because he's busy with school himself and I don't want to worry him." In replied. Not making eye contact as I realized I just spilled everything I've been thinking about for the past 3 weeks.
"Well you know I'm always here honey. I know I'm not your mom and nobody could ever take her place but my family loves you. We will always love you and we will always be here for you. You can talk to me about anything and I want you to know that." She said with a sad, but sincere look on her face.
"I know." I responded with a smile.
"Thank you." I added as I gave her a side hug.
As much as I love and trust her it's hard to talk to her about everything. Especially because I'm dating her son who I've known my entire life. I don't want her to feel like she's caught in the middle.

After a few hours of shopping Mrs. Flynn dropped me off at home. As I was getting inside I felt my phone buzz in my pocket.
It was Noah. No matter how long we have been dating I still get excited when I see his name pop up.
"Hey!" I answered as I struggled to get in the door with my shopping bags.
"Hey. Sorry did I catch you at a bad time?" Noah asked.
"No, no you're fine. I was actually just shopping with your mom and I'm just getting home." I explained.
"Oh okay. How is she?" He asked.
"She's good. She misses you a lot. I think she tries to hide it but she misses having you around." I told him.
He shook his head and laughed lightly. I knew he missed her too. He was just trying to act tough.
He quickly changed the subject.
"So, how has your day been? How's school?" Noah asked.
"Today has been good. Just went shopping with hour mom like I said, which was fun. School is going good as well. I've been working my ass off so that I can get into Harvard." I smirked
"Yes babe you got this!" Noah replied with a smile on his face.
Since Lee found out about me applying to Harvard we haven't really talked about it since. I've sent in applications for both places and I really hope that Harvard accepts my application first. I would never say that out loud to Lee or Noah but I really miss Noah.
Noah and I finished up our conversation. Mostly talking about school related things and what we have been studying recently.
We ended the phone call and I headed downstairs to have dinner with my dad and my little brother.
