The next day as Harry walked into the café, he'd promised himself to have a long conversation with Louis, hopefully, less stuttering. He wanted to know more about him and maybe make him smile at his jokes but it proved to be hard when all he could think about was his stunning blue eyes
"I was thinking of having something new today.." Harry asked eyes bright and face flushed. "Have any recommendations?"
"Care to try some of our teas then?" Louis smiled as he pulled out the menu, flipping it over. "I usually start my day with a nice cup of Yorkshire tea to get me going.."
"I'll have that then!" Harry grinned wide, blushing a bit when he saw him smile.
I swear that smile can bring world peace.
"One Yorkshire tea for my princess!" Louis cheered softly quickly working on his cup, missing his flustered grin.
Harry watched him silently visible smile playing on his lips while he played around with his rings. Louis was wearing his usual black jeans and now a yellow hoodie, his Beachwood apron tied carelessly around the waist and cap unseen, feather-light hair tousled and in need of a brush. He could see a bit of his tattoo peeking out from under his sleeves and stopped himself from pushing it back to see the piece of artwork.
He was generally the most laid-back worker at the café and Harry had always wondered how he got away with it. No one else working there seemed to care about his clothes either which led him to believe that he'd been working there for quite a while.
He turned his attention to the usually abuzz café now silent after it's morning rush, people filing out slowly. Small children were waiting behind him with their mothers for their turn and Harry engaged himself with them for a while, little boys marveling over his dimples and asking him if they could poke it.
"What's your name love?" Harry smiled at a shy girl hiding behind her mother. She shook her head slowly, eyes wide, and moving behind her mum's skirt completely. The girl's mum smiled at him kindly, shaking her head herself.
"Darcy's shy dear, she rarely ever speaks to anyone except her brother," she explained placing a hand on her daughters back.
"Oh, it's alright then." Harry managed to smile back at Darcy one more time, still quite hidden away from him. "Maybe you'd like to say hi another time?"
He didn't get a reply back and so simply shrugged smiling at her mum, waving goodbye to her one last time before turning back. Louis was already done with the order and was watching him interact with the customers silently. He smiled at him as he handed over his tea, cooeing at the adorable grin he got back.
"Aww, curly your honestly the most cutest person I've ever met." Louis voiced his thoughts out loud winking.
" 'm not cute." Harry smiled taking his cup in his hands, before whispering as an afterthought "But you are."
"Getting confident aren't we?" Louis chuckled, watching him get red-faced. How does he always manage to get him so flustered? "I like it darling."
"It's Harry.."
"I know that."
"Oh.." Harry shifted about awkwardly on his feet. "...How did you know that?"
Louis' eyes widened as he understood what he must be thinking, immediately rushing to explain. "No it's not what you-"
"If you could please." The lady behind Harry in the line scoffed, impatiently tapping her feet. "I've been waiting for the past fifteen minutes!"
Harry was startled by the sudden high-pitched voice, stumbling out of her way as fast as he could, hot scalding tea splashing all over the front of his white sweater. He hissed in pain at the burn on his chest, staring at his soggy boots and ruined white shirt in dismay.
"Harry! Oh, darling, I'm so sorry-" Louis ran up to him concerned as he saw him wince in pain. Harry stepped away from him burning in embarrassed as everyone stared at him soaking wet shirt sticking uncomfortably. He could practically feel Louis eyes staring at him in horror, slowly shaking his head in panic.
"I-I h-have to get going." Harry stammered out throwing what was left of his tea in the bin and rushing out of the café as fast as he could, cringing at how awful and embarrassed he felt. So much for trying to talk to Louis, he didn't think he could ever go back to that cafe again.
