So I narrated my sob story of what happened to my parents, why I wanted the treasure and why I'd kept the truth from them. I also showed him the cross and explained that it to him.
"Jesus Khloe, you should've told me this. Why on earth would you think I would've stopped talking to you?" he asked, slowly taking my hands in his.
"I don't know Rafe. I was scared...cause...I love you." I bit my lip, half expecting sadness.
"What?"
"I love you, Adler."
He smiled a bit, shaking his head as he stood up. I stood up with him and leaned against the table. He stood in front of me, his hands on either side.
"I love you too Khloe. So bad." His lips brushed lightly against mine, his hands wrapped gently yet firmly around my neck, caressing my cheek with his thumb. "You know, I love how you handle me when I'm on my bad side. No one else has done it like you. It feels like you're the only person who can...." He whispered.
"I guess we were meant to be together huh?" I smiled softly, wrapping my arms around him.
He put his hands around my waist, pulling me close enough to feel his warm breath dancing on my lips.
"I promise I'll stick with you through this and after Khloe, I love you."
"I love you too." I managed to whisper before his lips crashed onto mine, pulling each other closer. For a moment it felt like nothing else mattered, just us both alone in that empty cafeteria, fighting for air between kisses. I tangled my fingers in his hair while he slid his hands up my shirt, both of us wanting more. Digging his fingers lightly into my skin, his lips moved down to my jaw, and slowly to my neck. A slight moan escaped my mouth as he delicately bit the sweet spot just above my collarbone. A small smirk now pressed on my neck, I slowly lifted his chin up to meet his gaze as our lips met once more, this time more peacefully.
I jumped a bit when the bell suddenly rang, making him laugh quietly. I rolled my eyes with a small smile.
"Whatever, let's go look for those two."
We went back to where I was released. Rafe interlocked his fingers with mine, making me smile inside with a warm glow.
"Rafe, Sam and Nathan don't know about this yet."
"Well, I guess it's time you told them now."
"Look, there they are."
Sam stood smoking a cigarette, talking to Nathan. We could hear little bits of the conversation as we neared them.
"Yeah, speaking of the tower...we got a problem." Nathan raised his eyebrows in concern.
"What kind of problem?" Rafe asked, knowing just well what the problem was as we joined the duo. I gave Nathan an apologetic look as his eyes darted from Rafe's to mine.
"I didn't find anything. It's empty. I...I searched everywhere. To top that off, Vargas read the letter!"
"Don't worry I'll work it out with Vargas. Right now let's just get onto more important matters.I think Khloe has something she'd like to share with us." Rafe nudged me.
"Uh...yeah, how about we go somewhere more private?"
We went to the laundry room, checking around to make sure it was empty.
"Alright, the coast is clear."
"Okay....You didn't find anything in that tower, did you Nathan?"
"No, how'd you know?"
"I was in that tower before you. I'm looking for Henry Avery's treasure too..."
