"I really don't want to go to the party", I said for what felt like the hundredth time.
"You have to! You need to enjoy your life while you're young, or else you'll become a crazy cat lady."
I pushed Ethan away but, despite my efforts, he didn't even move a single inch. He looked like he was having the time of his life torturing me and showed a dimpled grin at my look of exasperation.
"I'm not gonna become a cat lady!"
"Well, you can always become a hoarder. That's a nice hobby and you can even appear on a TV show."
"That's im–" I was silenced by him putting a finger on my lips, which caused for me to stand there frozen, staring at him.
Ethan smiled and said "Quit stalling, we have a party to go to, and unless you want to show up there looking like a twelve year old boy, you better start getting ready, you're going to need quite a transformation. We'll meet here in four hours."
I rolled my eyes at his dumb comment but just went inside my house anyways. I didn't look like a boy! Besides, four hours was more than enough time for me to get ready and do everything I needed to do.
I did all my homework first, and then I started cooking dinner. It took a while for me to get the recipe right, and after eating it and telling my dad about the party, to which he simply nodded, I noticed I only had one hour left. Crap!
I had already told Beth I was going to Gabe's party, and she was very excited about it. According to her, I should wear something a little edgier than my usual outfits, but still classy. I was almost sure I had nothing that fitted that description.
I looked through all of my clothes, turning my room into a huge mess. In the end I decided to wear one of the few dresses I owned, a blue one that stayed a few inches above my knees. On top of it, I wore a leather jacket that used to belong to my mom, and instead of wearing heels, the usual type of shoes girls wore to parties, I chose my favorite pair of Converse. There was no way I would be able to wear high heels for more than five minutes without falling on my face or breaking an ankle.
I braided my hair and, after taking a final look at myself in the mirror, I decided I looked decent enough for the occasion so I finally went downstairs. In front of his house and leaning against his car, Ethan was not so patiently waiting for me.
"Finally! You don't look too bad, but you could've at least chosen to wear grownup shoes."
What a dick.
"I wear what I want, thank you for your concern", I said while getting in his car. I swear, someday I was goning to strangle him!
"You're welcome, dear. I know I'm such a stylish and nice person, you don't need to compliment me!", he said, using a really high pitched voice.
In fact, Ethan did look good. He was wearing a black T-shirt and dark jeans, and although it was such a simple outfit, it looked classy and slightly intimidating on him.
"Like what you see?"
He looked at me, smirking like the cocky jock that he was. I tried my best to look like I wasn't caught eye-raping him, but it wasn't very convincing.
"Pff, yeah right! Like I don't have anything else to look at."
"I understand, I'm too irresistible for anyone to keep their eyes off me."
I rolled my eyes at him but smiled at his nonsense.
A few minutes later, we arrived at Gabe's house. There were over ten cars parked in front of it and the music was so loud you didn't even need to get inside the house to be able to hear it clearly.
It seemed like this was going to be a huge house party, and I only hoped that no one would spill a drink on me or try to grope me, or else I would kick their ass.
