A four-year-old child who was found brutalized days after he went missing was laid to rest Saturday, amid cries for justice from his family. Mark Escarmosa was buried in a local cemetery even as police have yet to determine if there was foul play behind his death. His parents voiced hopes a postmortem exam could shed light on the circumstances surrounding his death, according to a report on.

Investigators are not discounting possible foul play but are also looking into whether his death was an accident. Police earlier said they could no longer conduct an autopsy on the boy because his body was already decomposing when it was found last Thursday. Mark's body was found Thursday in Pililia town in Rizal province, his head almost cut off and his internal organs missing, according to an earlier report. His parents Elena and Marlon Escarmosa had been looking for him since March 19. Initial investigation showed the boy's knees and inner organs were missing.

A Facebook post went viral about the alleged kidnapping in San Juan City.

According to a chain message post, policemen were swarming V. Cruz Street near Café Sanso Museum and Flossom Kitchen Café after "a dead child with no more internal organs and a sum of money on the body" was found.

"Sad, indeed, that these devils have come to San Juan. Four kids are still missing in San Juan. A green vehicle of unknown make or model was reportedly making rounds. Reports also say that women are kidnapping the children," the post read.

Many reports have been circulating on social media about kidnappings of children by syndicates engaged in human organ trafficking, but the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) belied the reports.

In most of the abduction reports, a van was usually involved in snatching victims.

In April of 2013.

A total of 38 cases of child abduction have already been reported to the police, the government-run Philippine New Agency (PNA) said.

Majority of the cases involved children in depressed areas. The children reportedly went missing after being followed by a man with garbage cans, or by garbage collectors, PNA said.
