Tatum's POV:

I'm in the hospital room when I hear a groan come from my patient on the bed.

"Hey, Max," I say as I walk over to the seven year old boy laying in the bed who is slowly opening his eyes.

"How are you feeling, buddy?" I ask as I sit on the chair next to the bed.

"I'm feeling better," the young boy says with a smile.

"That's great, buddy. I'm going to let your parents come in today," I say.

"Yay! Thank you Dr. Solo," Max says with a big smile.

"Of course, I'm going to get your parents," I say with a smile then I walk out of the room.

I walk down the hallway to the area where Max's parents are. "Mr. and Mrs. Roberts," I say catching their attention.

"How is our son?" Mr. Roberts ask as he and his wife stand up.

"The surgery was a success, the tumor was successfully removed. We just want to keep Max overnight for the next few nights to monitor everything then you can take him home," I tell the couple.

"Thank you so much, Dr. Solo," Mrs. Roberts says hugging me.

"You're welcome," I say then I shake Mr. Roberts hand.

"You may go see him," I say and they quickly rush off to Max's room.

As I'm walking back to my office my phone rings. "Dr. Solo at Chapel Hill Hospital," I say on instinct.

"Well hello Dr. Solo, you're sister is wondering if you have heard the news," I hear my sister, Hope say.

"Hey, Hope," I say with a wide smile, "And what news?"

"That the girls won today," Hope says making my heart clench.

"Good for them," I respond as I walk into my office.

"Really, Tate?" Hope says.

"What do you want me to say, Hope? Yay, my ex-girlfriend and her friends won, the people that I haven't talked to since 2015. Is that better?" I ask sarcastically as I sit down.

"I know, I'm sorry," I hear Hope sigh through the phone.

"It's ok, I'm sorry for how I responded," I tell her.

"It's ok. Also, I'll be back in North Carolina in two weeks from Seattle. I'm coming to Chapel Hill to check on you," Hope says making me smile.

"That sounds great Hope," I say then I hear my name being called.

"Dr. Solo, we got a code blue at room 201!" I hear as one of the nurse says as she and another run down the hallway.

"I got to go Hope," I say and I hang up.

I rush out of my office and down the hallway. I arrive at the room and I see Max going into cardiac arrest. "Get them out of here," I say pointing at Max's parents.

One of the nurses takes the Roberts out. "Defibrillator," I say and I am handed it, "Clear!"

I press it down onto Max, but he continues to flatline. "Turn it up," I say and the nurse does so, "Clear!"

I press it down on Max again and he gasps as his eyes go wide. I sigh in relief as Max looks at me frightened. "Hey, you're ok, Max," I tell the boy.
———
"He should be ok now," I tell Max's parents, "There were some complications, but he will be ok."

"Thank you," the Roberts day and I nod with a smile and walk out of the room.

I head back to the room and I see someone who surprises me. "Coach Anson," I say in shock.
