It was raining.
Bakugou stood looking out over the wet landscape, of course, it had to rain on the one day he had forgotten to bring his umbrella. He sighed, it was almost as if the universe was playing a trick on him. He had woken up late today, even though he seldom slept in, and he had been late to class. Mr. Aizawa had made him clean the classroom after school as punishment, and while he worked, it had started to rain. So there he was, all alone without an umbrella, as rain poured down from the heavens as if attempting to cleanse the world of its filth. He stood there, and as he had nothing better to do without an umbrella, he thought about his current situation and how he had gotten there. He thought about the reason why he had been up so late the previous night that his body had ignored his alarm to make up for the lost sleep. He usually only had trouble sleeping when it was exam week, but lately, his mind had been kept awake by something entirely different.
It was Mina who started it, she just couldn't keep her big mouth shut. He had heard her talking with some of the other girls yesterday afternoon. They were talking about Kirishima, or more specifically him and Kaminari. Mina spoke about how much time they spent together, and about how she thought there was might be something going on between the two. Bakugo had never considered himself the jealous type, he had had girlfriends before and it had never been a problem, but when he had overheard what Mina had said, his blood had started to boil. He didn't understand the feeling, as much as he thought about it the night before, he just couldn't understand why he cared if Kirishima and Kaminai were to date.
A loud laugh interrupted his thoughts, and he turned to his right to see two figures walking and laughing together under a single umbrella. As soon as he saw the bright red hair his heart started to pound in his chest, it was Kirishima, he looked again and his brain identified the second figure as Kaminai. He overheard Kirishima laughing, calling their friend an idiot for forgetting his umbrella. He watched as they talked and smiled, and even in the gloomy rain, they seemed to shine. He watched as they walked away, turning their backs on him not noticing he was there, completely caught up in each other.
His heart ached as he watched his friends walk away, he only really cared about one though, the one with the stupid spiky red hair, eyes that with one look could make him forget about all of his many problems, and the obnoxious smile that could like up the entire world. He wished it was him, that he was the one sharing an umbrella with Kirishima, making him smile and laugh for him, not Kaminai. He had never before wished to be someone else, but at that moment he wished that it was him who was the one in Kirishima's heart, but no matter how much he wished, he knew he was not.
