Clementine had been pacing her living room for hours at a time throughout the last week trying to muster up some sort of courage to talk to Spencer. She almost did it though, until she began to convince herself that becoming a 5th wheel for the holidays wasn't sounding too bad right now. It's been about a week since she bumped into Spencer Reid, and it was now October 6th. Clementine couldn't tell if she should just give up on her crazy idea, or storm to his apartment with a burst of confidence. Her feet began working before her mind could stop them and before she knew it, she was staring at the wood of his apartment door.
"Holy shit. What the hell am I doing?"
Frantically throwing her hands around and freaking out over whether she should knock or not would have been a sight to see for anyone who knew Clementine Cook. She was the definition of 'cool, calm, and collected.' This girl standing outside of Spencer Reid's apartment though, was anything but.
"I can't do it. Nope. It's such a stupid idea. Who knows if he's even home! Fuck. Who knows if he would even agree!"
Before she could turn around and go back to her place to calm down, she heard someone clear their throat from beside her. Jumping a good 4 feet in the air Clementine is met with none other than the resident of the apartment she's been staring at for 20 minutes.
Embarrassed, Clementine slowly turns on the heels of her feet to face the genius leaning against the hallway with an amused, yet confused facial expression.
Sensing the awkwardness of the conversation getting ready to happen, Clementine stutters out the first thing to come to mind. "Hi- Hey Spencer! Uh, how are you doing on this fine October day!"
"Hi, Clementine. I'm good and I- uh hope you are as well, but can I ask what you're doing here," he paused for a second gesturing to his door with furrowed eyebrows, "and as amusing as it was, why are you talking to my apartment door?" Spencer asked.
Shocked at how blunt the young doctor was being, Clementine only had a few seconds to think whether she should be honest, or make up an excuse and wallow in even more embarrassment later on. Sighing, she decided on the former.
"I actually have a favor to ask of you. You can totally say no though because we hardly know each other and a favor seems a little out of line here, but I figured that you would be the perfect person to ask. If I'm being honest I have been trying to get the courage to ask you for the last week, so I came here while I could and tried chickening out, hence the talking to your door."
Spencer had never heard someone talk at the pace that Clementine was, other than himself when he goes on his tangents. Was she nervous? He thought back to his own problem he's been trying to resolve and the fact that this girl was here with a favor for him as well, was kind of perfect. He unlocked the door of his apartment and motioned the young brunette into his living room.
"I actually have a question for you too if you are willing to have this favor go both ways," Spencer asked as he put his satchel on his couch and faced the girl who was awkwardly rocking back and forth on her heels.
