All Clementine could think about within the next few days was Spencer. She tried really hard not to, but even at work when she was overwhelmed with customers he still found a way into her head. She thought multiple times about going to her best friend Stephanie for advice but had talked herself out of it once she realized she probably shouldn't tell anyone about their 'relationship' yet. It also didn't help that the party she is supposed to be attending with Spencer was that night. She hasn't even seen Spencer since the night they made the promise so all she really knows is the time and the dress code. Spencer was to meet her in the lobby of their building at 6 where Clementine would drive them to David Rossi's house. She plans to set up their relationships timeline so it seems seamless to the team on the drive there.
Clementine was anxious the entire way home. She was driving a little more careless than usual. She just wanted everything to go smooth. She wanted the team to like her. If she were to do this thing with Spencer she would want the team to genuinely like her, which may seem a little hypocritical considering she's going to be lying to them from the very beginning. She made it home just in time, giving her an hour to get ready and calm her nerves.
On the other side of the hall, Spencer wasn't doing any better. He has been pacing his living room thinking of all the possibilities that could go wrong during the dinner. What if there is a misunderstanding somewhere in the story and one of them tells it differently than the other? Then when the group gets together to gossip, like Reid knows they will, they will figure it out right away. He also kind of forgot that they are all specially trained in behavior when he had asked, so they need to be pretty damn convincing tonight. The dress code for the evening was casual dressy. With it being almost two weeks into October the chill was beginning to sweep through Virginia, and that couldn't have excited Clementine anymore.
Looking into the mirror, Clementine felt as if she was ready as she would ever be and figured she would make her way to the lobby a little early. Granted it was 5:50 and it was only 10 minutes early, it was early for her. Stepping out of the elevator she wasn't surprised when she saw her date for the night leaning against a supply closet door. Clementine sent him a nervous smile as he noticed her walking towards him.
Spencer looked really good. He was wearing black pants, a maroon t-shirt, and a black blazer. His short hair looked so perfect, yet messily pushed to the side.
"Hey! I figured I would've beat you down here," Clementine said as she stood in front of the doctor, "you ready to go down to my car?"
Just like Clementine did, Spencer took in how effortlessly pretty she looked. She was wearing black jeans ripped on one knee, a loose white tank top, and a tan leather jacket. She left her hair down in what he assumed to be her natural curls. Giving her a lopsided smile, he opened the front doors for her.
"Yeah. Let's get going."
The car ride wasn't as awkward as either party had originally thought it was going to be. It was a little at first when they first pulled out of the parking lot, but once Clementine brought up that they should set their story straight, it got better.
