"Do you not understand simple words, Clera?!" The Princess shouted. "I don't need you anymore! No one does! You're just a nuisance!"
With wide eyes, Clera looked at the Princess, hoping without hope that she'd say she was joking. That what she said was just a bad joke but... instead, the Princess ran off leaving Clera to stare at the grass swaying in the wind as if nothing was happening.
Clera was suppose to be a hero, even though she never asked to be one, and she was supposed to keep people safe. After losing a friend, that changed. She put so much effort forward, she hadn't noticed she was being bossy and controlling. She hadn't noticed she was pushing everyone to their edge and worst of all, she hadn't noticed that she was making people around her feel insignificant compared to her.
Her heart was beating still, she checked. She pinched her skin and she was awake. She touched the ground. She smacked her cheeks. She was checking to see if she was in a dream but she wasn't.
And, it wasn't until an hour and a half walk, she had realized that she was crying rivers down her cheek. To make things worse, she had walked so far, she put herself right in the middle of enemy territory. This was made apparent by the sound of a raspy laugh behind her. The familiar sound of her friend Erik.
"I hadn't realized you wanted to die so badly that you would walk right to me, Clera." He said as he kicked her into a tree.
The wind was knocked out of her lunges and her eyes blinked on and off like a dying light bulb as her powers tried to charge. She rolled onto her stomach and lifted herself up on her hands and knees. She was at a major disadvantage.
She hadn't charged at the sanctuary.
She had no one with her.
And, she was in the middle of a camp with Erik as her opponent.
She picked herself up as quickly as possible and pulled her weapon from its holster. This was all for not, when Erik shot a beam of dark aura at her hand, burning her hand and causing her to drop it as he grabbed her throat and lifted her up, laughing at her puffy eyes.
"What's wrong, Clera? Did someone hurt your feelings?"
"E-Erik." She growled through clenched teeth. Her foot kicked him full force in the chest, unbalancing him long enough to drop her and she took this opportunity to reach for her weapon.
She was met with despair when a agonizing burst of electricity filled her body, she screamed out in pain as her body arched back in sheer torment. The electricity stopped long enough for her to breath and fall to the ground, inches from her weapon, and Erik took the opportunity to walk over and kneel down. Laughter filled the air as Clera looked at him with blurry vision.
"You never could pay attention long enough to save yourself." Erik said shaking his head as she lifted herself up.
She was stopped again by the electricity. This happened once more before she succumbed to the agonizing pain and passed out.
She was right... No one needs me.
