"I cannot let you burn me up, nor can I resist you. No mere human can stand in a fire and not be consumed." - A.S. Byatt

SYN

As I lay down my head on my pillow. Staring at the ceiling of my room and let time creep by and my thoughts wander. I should've gone to school today. I hate thinking and having 'what if' moments. Trying to distract myself from my thoughts I grab my phone dialing Jovan my best friend's number to see if he's up for a race today. Before I hit his number. I hear a disturbed knock on my door. Then she flung my door open.

Mercedes comes in my view.

Dear god.

"Syn-y, I need to talk to you!" Her tanned face turns red.

Knowing Mercedes, she probably wants to rant about Calvin stepping on her brand-new high heels. And showing me her updated presentation of reasons why she should hate Calvin.

"Stop it Merde," Royalty walks behind her trying to stop her from whatever she wants to talk to me about.

"Roya! Did you just call me sh*t?"

"No, It's your pet name."

"Royalty Reyes! Don't call me that."

"Calvin calls you that," Roya winks at her.

"Shh! He who must not be named!"

I get off my bed, "What the f**k is going on?"

"Okay Syn sweetie listen," She looks at Roya for support. Roya looks the other way.

"Did you kill Calvin?" I say,

"No,"

"Jovan?" I question

"Soon but nah," She say examining her nails.

"Get to the point Mercedes." Roya says annoyed.

Mercedes takes a deep breath. "She is back,"

My heart drops.

Silence.

"Did she go to school today?" I question calmly. Trying to hold all my anger in.

"Yes," they both reply.

I grab my shirt, phone, car keys and I rush out of my house and to my Range Rover car.

I put my shirt on while I'm driving, I unlock my phone and dial Jovan. He answers before the phone has a chance to ring.

"Douche! Why didn't- "

"She's back," I say.

Silence.

"I know," he says.

Shocked, out of all our group Jovan is the closest one to me. He knew what I went through because of her. Feeling betrayed that he's not the first one to tell me.

"Listen, I was going to tell you, but I knew the first thing you'd do is drive to her estates," he says.

"Yeah? I'm on my way," I say.

"Syn- " I know what he wants to say.

"I would never do or say anything to Tatia or Francessca," I assure him.

I might hate her and Daniel. But Tatia and Francessca didn't deserve to be related to such—

"I'll meet you there," Jovan says before he hangs up.

The thing is, Castles and Kings they go way back. But we never hated Valencia, Francessca, Tatia or Genevieve for Daniel's actions.

The King women were treated like family, more than family.
