WAITING WAS WORTHY ( A KIM TAEHYUNG ONESHOT)

Y/N and Taehyung had been friends since diapers, or that what they say. Gender wasn't a barrier for their true friendship. They shared even the most intimate stories of their lives with each other.
After 24 long years of friendship, 2 years of dating and 3 whole months of persuading by Taehyung, Y/N married him. Yes, you heard me right, they fell in love and married. I won't write the typical "and then they lived happily ever after" as this is not the love story of a prince and his lady love. This is a love story of a simple man and his simple lady love.

'Joe, please help me. I am in a dilemma. You must know that I love children. And now I want children. I mean a child. I mean a boy. Okay, no, girl would do as well', Taehyung said approaching his 'helper' after three long years of marriage.

Um... Joe is none other than your servant, the narrator.

'Calm down, man. Okay, so I get it now. You want a child. Well, I can't help you much on this matter. You need to ask your wife. Or are you that bad at bed??', I asked.

'Meh, I am good at bed. Do you wanna see', he asked me in a perverted way as if he almost wanted to have it with me.

'No, I am fine. I can make love to my husband. Thanks for the offer', I said as I returned him his answer the way he deserved.
'Well then. We are being driven away from the topic of concern. I want a child and Y/N says she is not ready', he said.
'Maybe then, you should wait. See, Eugene too wanted to have kids with me. But back then, I really wasn't ready. But he waited and now you see, we are parents of two kids', I stated.
'Yeah, but isn't twenty four years of friendship, two years of dating, three months of me persuading her for marriage and three long years of marriage enough for having kids??', he asked.
'Okay, look, are you a virgin??', I asked.
'Of course, not', he said.
'Whom did you lose your virginity to?? Y/N right??', i asked.
'No, it was you. Remember we had sex in our first year at college', he said trying to make remind me our first.
'Yeah yeah. I remember. Now stop it. Anyways, you did have sex with Y/N, right??', I said.
'Of course, we did. But why are you asking this all of a sudden??', his inquisitive self asked me.
'Okay chill. You have had sex with your wife. That means she is free with you--', I started.
'Of course, she is', he interrupted.
'Oh please don't interrupt me when I am talking. So where was I. Yes, so that means she is free with you. So, talk to her about having children and tell her that you are ready to take the responsibility of the baby and her', I said.
'But what if she rejects my proposal again??', he asked me with a little sadness in his deep, husky voice.
'She won't. Just give it a try, okay, Tae Tae??', I asked.
'Yahh!! I missed that nickname', he said as show me his world famous boxy smile.

After spending some more time with me, he bade me goodbye and left for his home. Reaching his home, he had dinner with his lovely wife and thought of asking her about having children once they went to bed.
'Btw, where were you all this time??', Y/N asked her handsome husband.
'To meet Joe', he said.
'Oh, she has come back from the UK??',she asked.
'Yes. Isn't it great??', he asked his wife.
'Of course, it is', said his wife,' I will go and meet her one evening'.
'Yes, you should', he said with a low voice.
'Tae, is something wrong?? You know you can tell me', she assured him.
He nodded and turned to her side.
'Y/N I want kids. Please. I know you are not ready. But I will help you. I mean I am ready to take the responsibility of the baby and you. Just I need your consent, darling', he said with a huge amount of hope  visible in his eyes.
'Umm...we have talked about this. I am yet not ready to be a mother. And you know how tough it is to become a mother. I don't wanna be like my mom who just left her daughter for work, work and work. I wanna be a good mom. I need to do justice to your child, Tae', she said as she took one of her husband's hands in hers.
'You will be a perfect mother to my children, Y/N. Trust me, I couldn't have given my children a better mom than you', he said.
Y/N looked down. She was not sure. She knew how much her husband loved kids but she was not ready. She didn't want to be cruel mother as her own. She wanted to be a perfect mother to her children.
'I will look into the matter. Goodnight, baby', she said as she turned to the opposite side as her husband's and went to sleep.

Taehyung had told me about their conversation and I found myself in a helpless position. I knew that Taehyung would be a wonderful father and he would take care of the baby and his wife but I couldn't force Y/N into this either. She had a say in this. So, I told Tae to keep persuading her. That was the only way to get this done!!

Six months after that, Y/N started to have wierd feelings. She would vomit every morning. She had developed a liking towards pickled sandwiches, which she hated to bones till then. She had had mood swings and she was always so grumpy. She had a talk about this with me and I prescribed her to visit a doctor.

She went to the doctor with her husband and quite expected, the doctor asked her to conduct a pregnancy test. And also quite expected, the test responded in the affirmative.

After they came out of the clinic, Taehyung held his wife's hand tightly and turned her around.
'Look Y/N, I won't be lying if I say that this is the happiest day of my life', he said.
'And I.......I am so happy that I don't want to let the feeling go', she said caressing her stomach.
When Taehyung heard those words come out of his beloved's mouth, he was overwhelmed. He danced around in the streets and kissed his wife passionately on the lips. Finally, the couple was going to have a child.
On the day of Y/N's delivery, I was there in the hospital to calm the expecting father. Taehyung becomes too hyperactive about matters when it comes to the health of his near and dear ones. Including me. After all, I was his closest friend after his wife.
'Okay, calm down, Tae Tae. She will be perfectly fine', I said.
'No no no the doctors said that her blood pressure was 126 by 87. It's not normal. It should be 120 by 80', he said.
'Its normal, okay. I had my blood pressure as high as 132 by 99 when Sue was born. But you see, I am still alive in front of you', I said.
'Yes. I know. I was so worried about you when Sue was born', he said as he reminisced that day of my first child's birth.

Just then a shrill cry erupted from the Operation Theater and Taehyung ran towards the doctor who was coming out of the OT.
'Congratulations, Mr. Kim. It's a boy', he said.
'Thank you, doctor. Thank you so much. How is my wife??', Taehyung asked.
'Oh she is perfectly alright. Don't you worry', he said.
'Thank you so much', I replied on behalf of the overjoyed father.

It has been another 25 years after the birth of Taehyung and Y/N's first son. They were gifted with two more.

It's Yoerum, their first son's wedding where I am now. I can see Taehyung and his wife catering to the needs of the guests. They have grown old but they still look young together. I smile at the two as I didn't notice Taehyung coming towards me with a goblet of red wine.
'Here. All thanks to you. Without you my first son wouldn't have been born', he said as he handed me a goblet.
'Me?? What did I do??', I asked confused.
'You asked me to wait. And so I am father as well as father in law now', he said as he smiled.
'See, I told you to wait', I said with a geek smile.
'Of course you did. And the wait was worthy', he said as we raised the toast for the newly wed couple.
