-Natalie's P.O.V-

Derek.

They couldn't be talking about my Derek. My brother. My dead brother. He was dead after all; Deucalion had reassured me of that for years. I was the only Hale. And it was my plan to build up the alpha pack to destroy anyone who wanted to stand against us. We could be all-powerful. And I would inherit it, because I was a Hale. The last Hale. Or maybe not.

I listened closer on the conversation. "I'm not joining a pack!" Scott bellowed, obviously aggravated.

"Told ya' so." I heard Stiles's snarky tone remark.

I toned the rest out... Why couldn't they mention Derek again? I was desperate for more information. I rolled my shoulders back, a facade of my true feelings, and walked to my bike. Both of the twins' parking spots were vancant. I straddled the leather seat of my bike and sped off, cutting the corners of the car loop, passing by the trio.

I exited the campus, getting onto a bittersweet path. The taste of the air around this route were a mixture of sour and sweet. an unfamiliar familiarity, contradicting.

After a while of driving, and the blood leaving my knuckles, causing them to glow a ghastly white, I got a place I remembered from an emotionally damaged part of my mind. The smell of ash far gone from the enviornmant but fresh in my sinuses. I parked my bike in the mangled grass, unmounting the machinery. I stood there, frozen but my blood boiling beneath my skin.

"Mom!" Cries of anguish rose from the flames, surrounding me. I hope my message could reach my salvation, my mother. She would protect me.

"Get out!" She screeched. The pain in my mother's voice was something I had never heard before. I scanned my enviorment. Flares circled me; how was I supposed to follow my orders? Brief silhouettes danced across the diminshing walls. The scenes protrayed were far from artistic. Pain and agony encompassed the room. The flames closed in on me and I had no choice. I held my breathe and ran.

I dove towards what I had known to be the door. Pain enacted every receptor in my body. I felt each hair on my body singe, every liquid in my system evaporate and my skin boil. I faceplanted in the musty dirt surrounding the abode. The crisp in the air nuzzled my pain and I let out a scream I never knew I was capable of. The coolness against the increasing heat of my body sent me into a shock. I felt unable to breathe and I knew I would face the same fate as the family I just left behind.

Suddenly, I was lifted onto a bedlike structure. I bellowed as connection with my injuries reminded me of my fate.

"One live." Live?

I foggily saw a scene of a flurry smother the remanents of my once home. I shut my eyes tightly. I didn't want to see anymore. I wanted to stop feeling everything.

"Eight pronounced dead."

"Electrical problems from the look of it."

The last thing before I passed out. The lie I believed wholeheartedly, until I was enlightened. By the same person who may have lied to me for 6 years...

"I knew you'd come here."

I turned to see a tall figure, pale, faded green eyes, dark hair, and a worn expression.

I swallowed, gathering my thoughts but only able to utter one word.

"D...Derek?"

A/N Sorry for this being so short! Gotta have a good backstory!
