Chapter 5

NISHINOYA'S P.O.V

Tanaka and I walked to the gym for volleyball practice chatting about anything best friends talk about.

"I am super hyped to work on my Rolling Thunder!" I exclaim punching my fist in the air. Tanaka laughs at my antics before replying with, "It's perfect, except for the name that is!" I put a hand to my heart acting offended, "How could you say such a thing!" I say while wiping away a fake tear, "The name is great!"I stated punching his arm.

"Anyways," Tanaka says rubbing the spot where I punched him, "Did you hear about the new girl? She's a first-year and my sources say she is a real hottie!"

"Ohhhhh, sounds interesting, but she is no match for our precious Kiyoko!" I say although she may be prettier than Kiyoko. I wouldn't know, I haven't seen her. I start to dream off about the mysterious new girl when I am soon brought back to earth by a metal door to my face. 

"Owwww!" I say rubbing my nose. Tanaka next to me is laughing his head off as I am glaring daggers at him. I put a pout on my face and stalk into the gym. I set my stuff down on one of the benches and spy my kohai radiating more joy than usual. This alone brings a smile to my face as my hurting nose is soon forgotten. I ditch the still laughing Tanaka and run over to Hinata. 

"Hey, Hinata! What's up?" I ask smiling. Hinata doesn't respond he just kinda babbles with an ear to ear smile plastered on his face like paint. I let out a light chuckle, with confusion and amusement written on my face.

"He met one of his volleyball idols," Kageyama states appearing out of nowhere. I jump slightly and look up at the grumpy, dark-haired setter. "Which one?" I ask. He looks at me with a bored expression on his face. "Spirit Crusher, although her name is (f/n) and she is the new girl. " This statement piques my interest. "She is in our homeroom and they have already become friends," Kageyama continues with a shrug. 

"What is she like?" I ask Hinata, turning in his direction. "She is super cool!" Hinata responds not missing a beat. "She has near-perfect receives and her spikes are just as powerful! She mountain climbs too, so that's why she can jump so high! Not to mention she is super nice and confidant!" Hinata finishes with his eyes beaming, "Oh, I almost forgot! She is shorter than you!"

With that last statement, I may have totally fallen for her. She is everything I ever wanted and I still haven't even seen her yet! My smile grows larger as I think about this wonderful girl who I never met.

"Let's start practice," Daichi yells. I am pulled out of my thoughts and I force my head into volleyball mode. The team all run to the court and start to warm up. Practice was the same as always until Ukai burst through the door.

"I have a big announcement!" He says with a small smile on his face. We all gather around him excited to hear what he has to say. "We are getting a new team member!"

The whole team beamed and started to bombard Ukai with questions such as, "Who is it?" "Do you know his name?" "What position does he play?", but Ukai refused to answer any of our questions. "You will find out soon enough," was all he said. 'Man, that was vague,' I thought. I was anxiously anticipating the arrival of our new teammate so much that I would keep glancing at the door waiting for it to open or at least someone to knock on it, but that never happened. 

------------------------Timeskip 10 min.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I finished receiving what seemed like the thousandth ball when Ukai called a water break. I trudged over to the benches and plopped myself down on them, grabbing my water bottle. I chugged half of it before wiping off my mouth and setting the bottle down. I fixed my gaze on Kageyama and Hinata, our freak duo, as they set up for one of their infamous quick attacks. Hinata runs at the net at minus tempo as Kageyama sets the ball directly to Hinata's hand before Hinata smacks it to the ground. He lands down on the court a little out of breath, but overall just a smile remains on his face. The freak quick doesn't faze the team anymore, but there was an audible gasp that echoed up from the shadows on the loft. Someone was up there watching us and we never suspected a thing.
