Chapter 3

Alpha. The guy said alpha. I couldn't help but laugh while a confused look crossed Claire's features. He can't be serious. But the stern look on his face had me scratching the back of my neck as my laughter died down. He is serious.

"Is that like the code thing from era 51?" Claire questioned. And even the driver's eyebrows creased together. Era?

"You mean area 51?" I asked sounding more like I was stating it. In fact, I was. Era? Era?! I mean, I knew Claire isn't the brightest, and believe me, neither am I, but even a five year old knew that...... I think. She rolled her eyes like I had just offended her dog.

"Whatever. So, is it?" She asked turning her attention back to Cutie. I watched as her eyes trailed down to his lips making me roll my eyes. Every hot guy, literally. She seemed intrigued by him actually. His jawline, his cute little nose, and I didn't blame her for checking out those lips. I felt kind of jealous of how close she seemed to be leaning toward him in the front seat. The pang I felt in my chest disappeared once he shook his head with a confused expression. He looked back at both if us.

"You don't know who the alpha is?" Oh, so the alpha's a person? And obviously not! Claire shook her head making eye contact with Cutie who turned around with a sigh and a confused expression. "Do you believe werewolves exist?" Wow. Wow! I just can't.

"Uh-" I let out a disbelieved, humorless chuckle,"first you kidnap us and now you're asking us if we believe in mythical creatures? You better have food where we're going or I'm gonna go all cannibal on your butt," I snapped. What can I say, a hungry girl is an angry girl. Claire nudged me in my rib making me look at her irritated. She doesn't get it, at least she got to eat her potato chips. And one of my fries. Rubbing the spot where she hit me, I turned back to Cutie.

"Werewolves are very much as real as humans are. And what confuses me is how you two go to a school for werewolves and still haven't figured it out." Wow! This guy's really convinced. Or mental. Or probably both. Claire looked at me like she expected me to know what he's talking about. I only shrugged before attempting to open the door only to hear the lock click.

"Tell me you weren't about to jump out of a moving car." Claire seemed unfazed by my actions. Probably used to my very arbitrary decisions. I only sighed before looking at Cutie who seemed very intrigued.

"Look, Cutie here probably escaped an asylum, stole money and became a billionaire or something. And now he's kidnapping us to be his little-"

"How did you come up with such an anology?" He asked interrupting my accusation. But really, how did I come up with that idea? I only shrugged as Claire got back on topic.

"So who's an alpha?" She asked. She wasn't usually one to stick to one topic. In fact, she changed the subject every two seconds whenever we had a conversation. I didn't even know that was possible.

"He's like the CEO of the his pack, the highest ranked. Just like in normal wolf packs." She hummed in response. I can't believe she's buying into this. Or maybe she was smarter than I thought, pretending she believed when really, she was awaiting his vulnerability before she made her move of escape. I decided to play along as well.

"So our whole school has a bunch of werewolves just roaming around the hallways like it's nobody's business?"

"Yes. And if I hadn't shown up, that boy would have ripped you to shreds." I half believed him. Archie did look like he was about to murder me. But, come on, werewolves? That's absurd. And clearly this guy's insane. Not to mention, off his meds. "It seems you two have managed to not piss off anyone," oh believe me, we have, "otherwise, you wouldn't be here right now. Humans are not suppose to be mixed in werewolf business, especially since werewolves have very little tolerance for anything."
