When I woke up I couldn't feel anything. As soon as the nurse saw my eyes open, she called for Dr. Jones. Once Dr. Jones came in I knew something bad had happened to my back. He has always come in with a reassuring smile on his face, but not this time. I tried to brace myself for what I was about to hear. I didn't do a very good job because I knew I was panicking inside and out. Dr. Jones tried to smile, but he stopped trying and told me what he's been trying to keep in in the calmest voice possible,
"Lizzy, apparently when we went into your back in the surgery we damaged quite a few nerves and didn't realize it. The reason you started having so much pain was because those nerves were damaged so much that the only thing it could do was signal off pain. I'm sorry Lizzy." I could not believe what I was hearing. My back will always shoot out pain just like last night. I got onto my stomach and started to cry.
