The Dark had won the battle and the celebration resumed, but this time there was no sense of foreboding that hung in the air. Instead everyone was rejoicing, and treating Adreana like a hero for saving The Dark. Everyone, that is, except Kerrin.
Kerrin sat by herself apart from everyone else. She felt a sadness like none she'd ever felt before, a sadness so deep that she couldn't even cry.
I will unite Integria by myself, she decided. I will fulfil his dearest wishes for him, and I will never fail him as long as I live.
She knew that she would never be able to speak to Adreana again.
