Luke paced back and forth, breathing heavily all the time, trying in vain to calm his troubled mind. He came here every day in hope that it would help to calm him, as it was said that nature was very peaceful and relaxing. Luke, however, had never had this experience, but perhaps that was because he had lived in The Light all his life, and its hard dirt ground and sickly skeletons of trees could hardly be considered nature. He wished he could go to The Dark, but that was strictly forbidden, and this was the closest he could get to nature in The Light.

As he passed The Twilight, a movement caught his eye. He came a little closer and then he saw her: a maiden of The Dark, hiding behind the last tree before they began to change. Her silken white-blonde hair fell past her waist, and she was gazing at him, her eyes, huge and deep velvety blue like the night sky, full of love. Luke felt a warm tingling feeling in his heart at the sight of her. This is by far the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, he thought to himself. There were beautiful girls in The Light, but Luke had never before seen a girl whose eyes weren't hard and cold. This girl, however, had eyes that were warm and full of love.

Luke wanted to talk to her, but that was dangerous. If anyone caught him talking to her, he would be punished badly for it, so instead he moved on, his heart full of longing for the peaceful forests of The Dark and the beautiful girl.
