Leo Ch. 3

Leo's POV

    “Dad?” Hazel asked, looking absolutely shocked to see Hades/Pluto. “What are you doing here? Zeus has forbidden any contact with us,” she said, though now she looked a little relieved.

“Yes, I know. Where is Nico? Nevermind that. Hazel, I have some advice you may want. I couldn't contact you in your dreams so, I used a different approach but, I'm not actually here. But, that is beside the point. Gaea has a massive army waiting in Greece. So, be careful. There is a passage in Athens, Greece. It is an Underground tunnel to Ioannina, which will be in the Espirus region and somewhere in that region you will find the Doors of Death but, unfortunately I cannot tell you more than that. In fact, I think you know too much already,” Hades/Pluto exclaimed.

“How will we know where the doors are?” Hazel asked. Which was a good question.

"Gaea's army will be waiting for you there. Unfortunately, they already know you're coming but, the good news is that they don't know where you are coming from," Hades/Pluto continued.

"So, we will know we are there, when we see Gaea's forces just sitting there like they are guarding it?" I asked.

"Pretty much," Hades/Pluto said.

"Okay, well thank you father. That is something we needed," Hazel said gracefully.

"I must go now. Again, Hazel be careful, you and Nico are my only hope. Good luck," and with that Hades/Pluto vanished.

"Well, no pressure or anything," Nico said sarcastically as he walked into the room.

"You heard everything, I suppose?" Hazel asked.

Nico nodded grimly. We all knew that in order to close the Doors of Death. One person would be left behind. In other words, dead. Well, that's just great. I wonder if that means me. I actually would deserve that, I mean... I am the reason that Annabeth and Percy are in Tartarus. So, why not take my life to spare theirs?

"Stop thinking this" I thought to myself. Whatever I need to do, I will do it. They won't miss me anyway, I always ruin things. They had a good start with the Romans and I blew up Camp Jupiter. So, I ruined their chances. I know they don't trust me. But, I guess it works out, machines are my friends. It's easier to work with them anyways.

"Leo Valdez," a voice sounded in my head. "You can still join me and you won't have to die," Gaea said.

"Why would I ever join you?" I asked her.

"You would be happier," she said calmly.

"What are you talking about? I am happy where I am now," I exclaimed.

"Let's face it Son of Hephaestus, you're not going to win this war, and by the time you realize this, you will be dead. You don't really wanna die, do you? I can give you anything and everything you want, wouldn't you like to see your mom again? I would bring her back for you," she said.

My heart fell into my stomach, could she really bring my mom back? Would she really do that? Leo! Stop debating, you know she won't do that, she's just going to use you to kill your friends and take down Olympus from the roots. You aren't seriously considering this? I thought to myself. This was so tempting though, I would get to see my mom again. That would be the best thing in the world. If I could get her back, all this grief would subside, I'd actually be happy.

"I can't and I won't join you, you're the reason my mother is gone anyway," I shouted.

"See it your way then," she said. "I'll let you think about it then. You'll come to your senses," she continued and then she was gone as fast as she had appeared. I sat on my bed and got teary eye'd. Maybe Gaea was right maybe I would be happier with her. I cause nothing but misery for my so-called friends. If you join Gaea you will cause nothing but misery for everyone. Do you want that? To see the world crumbling down? Don't even think this! You're better than this. Esperanza Valdez would not approve of this! I lectured myself.
