Sunday morning.
Usually, on Sunday mornings, Katya would sleep until late or call Violet to spend the day at home or at the mall, but on that particular Sunday, she was looking for a decent dress to go to church.
Her parents had never been religious, so she had never really been interested in going to church. In fact, Katya was not devoted to any religion; she could pray to a manifestation of one god one day and become interested in another culture the next. Once she became so passionate about the Islam of her friend raja, but quickly switched to the Hindu religion when she saw that her texts were so interesting.
Katya was not really devout, she liked to learn from different cultures, but she couldn't belong to a certain kind of religion. Even so, she was combing her disastrous blonde hair while smoothing her blue dress to listen to what the pastor had to say.
"Ready!" she screamed once she was ready, only to go downstairs and meet her parents waiting in the room.
Her mother smiled tenderly to see how her daughter had paired that dress with a pair of military-type boots, because obviously, Katya didn't have any sort of elegant shoes.
"Katya, would you like to tell me again why you are so excited about going to church?"
The blonde debated it for a few seconds. Obviously, she wanted to go to hear the pastor talk about how she would go to hell for being a bad person; it had nothing to do with the fact that a particular gorgeous blonde was there singing.
"Uh, I don't know," the girl admitted, "It's just that I've never taken the time to learn about that religion, maybe that's the right one for me."
"You said the same thing about the Hindu."
"But that wasn't the one," she protests with a smile "Now, can we leave? It's getting late."
Her parents looked at each other with curiosity before leaving and driving towards the church. The place was medium, but there were a lot of people in it, yet they could get a decent seat.
Katya was looking at the place in search of a certain person when suddenly her eyes fixed on her. The girl wore a white dress accompanied by a bow in her hair of the same color; her smile was beautiful while she was talking to a girl much smaller than her, who seemed to be her little sister or some relative of hers.
She looked like an angel.
Maybe it was the fact that the Russian looked at her intensely because, after a while, Trixie turned to look at her in amazement, although that look quickly turned into a smile as she greeted the girl discreetly.
"Ah! Now I understand everything," her mother looked at her with a bright smile, which made Katya's cheeks blush, "She's pretty."
"She's so beautiful."
Her mother just laughed before the ceremony began. They all got up and said a prayer together with the pastor, Katya was a little disoriented, and having Trixie in front of her while singing some praise didn't make it any easier for her.
It was true that Katya was not there to learn about anything the pastor said; even more, the pastor didn't inspire her as much confidence as she was supposed to. She had set out to understand a little of whatever he read in to impress Trixie, but she couldn't because she spent all the time looking at her with loving eyes.
When the ceremony ended, all the families began to leave while the pastor left them at the exit. When she was finally about to leave, she met Trixie next to her father, which made her smile widely.
