TW: mentions of conversion therapy.
Katya learned something really painful during her teen years, and it was how difficult it was to be away from her soulmate, even more so knowing that she was suffering.
No one knew exactly what had really happened to Trixie, because after her father found out about her sexuality, the girl missed school one day, and since then, she hasn't been seen there, in the church, or anywhere else. Her friends were looking for her day and night and had even gathered the courage to visit her home, but they were surprised that she wasn't there even though her mother and sisters were. Katya was going crazy for every second, and although her family and friends were worried about the brown-eyed girl, they were also worried about the Russian who looked in a real bad state.
No one knew about Trixie, but Katya suspected what was happening and prayed to God that it wasn't what she was thinking.
"Katya," Violet called her as she entered her best friend's room, finding her in a rather depressing shape. The girl had traces of eyelash mask on her cheeks from so much crying, bags under her eyes due to her insomnia, and her gaze was expressionless in an almost sinister way, "Katya, she came back."
That was reason enough to get her out of bed, though not everything was rose-colored.
"Wait, you can't go get her."
"I need to see her; get out of my way."
"Katya, listen. Kim saw her enter her house and she or her parents hasn't left since they arrived, her father not even crazy is going to allow you to see her," said the dark-haired girl, trying to be the voice of reason, but when the other girl replied wildly that the man could go to hell, she had to raise her voice. "She's not okay, Katya; you are going to make them hurt her even more!"
Almost immediately, the girl put her hand to her mouth as if that would undo the words her friend had already heard.
"She's hurt?"
"Katya, listen..."
"Shit, Violet, tell me! Trixie is hurt?" yelled the blue-eyed doll in desperation, shaking her friend with force, and for the first time in her life, she witnessed Violet Chachki sobbing in front of her.
"They saw her in a bad state. Her mother had to help her stand up to get out of the car and she looked so weak. It was like she was someone else," Violet said with a broken voice because despite not having seen her, she knew what Trixie's father was capable of, and the girl didn't want that her friend to suffer because of this.
Katya's worst nightmare had come true.
Conversion therapies.
"You'll see her tonight, Kat, I promise you," said her dark-haired friend as she tried to get Katya to hear her, as she had been motionless looking into a blank space once she managed to sit down. "I'll talk to her sister from her friend's phone, the one whom I teach sewing lessons on weekends, and we'll plan something so we can bring her here tonight. Please be patient and don't do anything stupid; I assure you, Katya, tonight you will have your girlfriend in your arms."
Violet chachki could be many things, but she wasn't a liar. The girl managed to sneak out her friend while her sisters covered her and once she held her in her arms, she had to bear the tears, so she simply hugged her without asking any questions and drove silently to Katya's house, where the couple could finally see each other after so long.
Neither of them dared say anything or come close, but Trixie was the first to crumble, letting herself fall while she cried silently.
"I got you, baby. I'm with you and I will never let you be hurt again, I promise you," Katya assured her once she held her in her arms, and although she wanted to be strong for her, it was heartbreaking to see the person she loved most in the world suffer. "Trixie, sorry, sorry. I'm so sorry I couldn't avoid this. I would have given anything to avoid all this, I assure you."
