Chapter 2

That had to be the most horrible gym class ever! Catherin didn’t know what was worse, having Brittany going on and on about how Gary and Catherin were meant to be or fainting in front of the whole class because she ran too fast for too long to escape Brittany's chatter.

“How are you feeling, darling?” Nurse Martha asked when Catherin gained consciousness.

“What happened?” Catherin asked, still groggy from having her head knocked on the track.

“You fainted during gym and this nice gentleman carried you here,” Martha replied.

Oh, that made sense…

Hold on! Carried her, who carried her?

Catherin was just about to ask when a voice interrupted her, “You feeling alright? You gave Coach Peters quite a scare when you fainted.”

Catherin stared at Gary Richards. This cannot be happening.

“You carried me here?” what had happened to her voice? It sounded like she had swallowed an elephant.

“Yeah, you were unconscious-

“No. No, no, no, no. No!”

“Sorry what?” Gary looked adorable with a confused expression on his face.

Catherin felt her mouth grow slack after experiences his good looks head on but quickly pulled herself together.

“No! No, no, no, no. No! You cannot carry me to the infirmary!” Catherin yelled, jumping out of the bed.

“I am sorry but I don’t understand…”

“This is wrong!” she yelled, running out of the room. She met Brittany just as she was exiting the infirmary. Bless the girl; she had Catherin’s backpack with her.

“Wasn’t that the most romantic thing ever?” Brittany squealed. “It was just gorgeous the way he carried your limp form bridal style.”

“First of all, that is not gorgeous, it’s creepy. And second of all, let’s get out of here before anything else happens,” Catherin said, dragging her friend to the parking lot.

“Did you hit it off? Please tell me you took his phone number!” Brittany begged.

“No I didn’t!”

“Then what did you do?”

Catherin thought back to the way she had yelled at him, a swift blush rising up her cheeks.

“You are blushing! Did you kiss?” Brittany shouted, excitedly.

“No!” Catherin yelled back. “And keep your voice down for heaven’s sake!” she looked around the parking lot where people had stopped to stare at them after Brittany's little outburst. She gave them an innocent look and got in the car, signaling Brittany to do the same.

“So what exactly happened?” Brittany asked, fastening the seat belt and pulling out of the parking lot.

“Nothing happened. I freaked out,” Catherin sighed.

“Freaked out as in?” Brittany asked.

“Trust me, you do not want to know,” Catherin said.

“That’s okay. We can still turn this in our favor,” Brittany replied. “You go up to him in school tomorrow, say sorry and then start talking.”
